Sling using Dish signals

I understand Echostar owns/operates both DISH and Sling's services.

The very least they could do is replace their promos with services that are actually available on Sling.

Example: Watching Comedy Central on Sling and seeing a promo for 'Schnitt's Creek' on POP-TV, A service currently unavailable via the Sling service.

Just not cool.. Not cool at all.

If you think that's bad, Viacom channels (which PS Vue dropped two months ago) still appear in my PS Vue guide grid.

How do you know that is a Dish-inserted commercial and not commercial time on Comedy Central bought directly by the owners of POP-TV? Did the commercial end by saying "available on Dish channel 117?" Most commercials are sold by the channel owners to whoever is willing to pay for it.

Which makes me suspect that some deal will come forth between the two, though more and more time passes since it was dropped.

I spoke too soon. The Viacom channels are no longer there, though I would swear I saw them within the past week.
They were there for so long I accustomed myself to just looking past them, so I havent noticed if they are gone or not.

YES! That's exactly what I saw.. A DISH Network promo for POP-TV on Sling's service. I've also seen PPV promos for movies in the 500's also.

To me, IMO, it really doesn't matter. They have the rights to carry the network. Anyone accustomed to Sling knows there are no channel numbers and POP isn't on Sling. I see Animal Planet and Discovery commercials too. Doesn't bother me. If I really wanted those channels, I'd go with Vue. But I'd rather have Viacom, IMO.

Now, it looks like they are trying to cover some of the commercial breaks on TBS and Cartoon Network with poorly streamed promos and PSA's that look like crap and make me have to reload the channel every 45-60 minutes. I should have just kept my mouth shut. :(

A dish sub is more expensive than sling on average, makes sense that they would advertise it on their cheaper service.

Me the same way on TNT. I have to reload every once and awhile and the PQ is horrible on those commercials!!

You can tell they don't have the cut-in timing or the ability to not break the timecode/digital sync when they try and cover their own DISH promos. When they are trying to cover EVERY DAMN BREAK on TBS or Comedy Central and you have to reload the channel every hour because the program is lagging, sometimes 2-3 minutes behind it's already delayed streaming broadcast, it turns into a nightmare to try and watch.

For some reason, USA had a lagging/bandwidth issue during WWE SmackDown tonight where the channel wouldn't lock onto a steady amount of bandwidth. I reset my own service, got a new IP address and reset the Roku. The issue continued to happen until the last 40 minutes of the program.

A month into being a paid customer. I'm still not impressed.

They have just recently started the PSA commercials. I think they are still fine tuning the cut ins and getting the bugs out. Sometimes that happens when they release an update or something new. One time they released an update for Roku and I couldn't access Sling all day. It would just spin and lag. But it was fixed within one day and I did get half a months credit after calling in. It happens. But it is VERY annoying with those damn commercials. And the baby laughing commercial was only funny the first 100 times!! Damn put something else on!!

This sh*t is STILL HAPPENING on TBS and Comedy Central. Not only are the running POP-TV promos, they are airing the same promo break looped, over and over again. How long does this crap need to continue until they figure out how to cover breaks with decent filler content or perhaps.. ADVERTISING sold by Sling like they do with Dish. As a couple of points during the Summer, I saw Boise based local advertising on TNT and TBS. It just blows my mind these people can't figure out how to properly run breaks or install media encoders that run properly.
