Haven't looked in a while, this series available streaming from anywhere other than CBS All Access yet? I cancelled my All Access after I saw the poor sound/picture quality when I tried to watch episode two.

Not positive, but I think the sound is 5.1 subscribing thru Amazon Channels to CBS All Access. It’s 5.1 on Netflix outside the US too.

For what they charge and offer, cbs needs to upgrade their own app services before I would justify using them.

Thanks...never thought of going through Amazon for the CBS content. I found the CBS app to be pretty pitiful on most anything I tried to watch. I'll have to check out the Discovery series after I finish watching Voyager. Not sure why I waited so many years to watch that series, but I've been enjoying it as time permits. I'm mid-way through season three so far. As much as I've enjoyed TNG over and over, it's nice watching similar content from the same time frame.

Between the elevator gag and the increase in comedy, I would say someone took notice of The Orville and decided the first season was way too serious in nature.

That being said, the storyline still doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Why would Pike need to take command of the Discovery, when the Enterprise is supposed to be the flagship of the fleet and more advanced than the Discovery itself?

The logic loopholes continue, it seems...

I really enjoyed season 1 during a free month of CBS Access a couple of months ago. I've seen all the series (except Enterprise) and movies. So I'm an ST fan. But not to the degree that I obsess over how Discovery has ret-conned the ST canon and can't just sit back and enjoy it on its own terms. I guess ignorance is bliss, since I don't remember the details of the original series that I watched before, and haven't seen since, I turned 12.

Just saw the trailer, and I have to say, the new season looks like it's going to be really good.

Different in some ways, the same in others . Ready for it.

I saw the trailer as well. Curious as to why Pike was wearing a classic yellow uniform, and the Discovery crew was all still wearing blue.

CBS seems to be adding a new channel with Patrick Stewart! From here: Patrick Stewart will star in new Star Trek TV series as Jean-Luc Picard

Mildly interested. If they're headed into the future, post Star Trek Nemesis-era, I would be intrigued. But then again, you've still got Kurtzman in charge, and that's a big red flag right there.

With all the people behind the scenes in the Discovery production either getting fired or intentionally leaving, and with the writers yelling and fighting each other, and the production delays and all, it makes you wonder what exactly it's like to be involved in all of this.

At least with Patrick Stewart back in, we've got good acting again, which is a sigh of relief. I'm just being cautiously optimistic, that's all. Good actors are part of it, but good stories are another thing. And then still, locking the series into All Access won't help matters either. Good news is that Space will probably air it on their TV channel.

By the way... Why is this thread in TV Shows rather than Cord Cutters Club?
Because there is no more Prime Time forum, now it's just TV Shows, from wherever they originate, thank goodness.

Are you kidding? This show is a train wreck, they can't do anything right.

It's funny because during STLV when Kurtzman announced "We're going to be premiering Season 2 of Discovery next year", you had literally 1 guy in the audience yell "woooo!!" and then very light applause, and that was it.

Conversely, 10 minutes later during that exact same presentation, when Patrick Stewart shows up on stage and says "Jean-Luc Picard is back", and references a brand new Star Trek series taking place 20 years after the events of Nemesis, you see everyone in the audience give a standing ovation, with massive applause and cheering.

I wonder if at that particular moment in time, Kurtzman was thinking to himself... "Yep... I thought that'd be the reaction. Guess I was right to be worried about Discovery getting a 3rd season."

Actually, I just thought of something.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't Discovery the first Star Trek television show where the lead producer has gone out of his way to talk about the "next new Star Trek series", even though the current one hasn't even finished airing yet?

With TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise... I can't seem to remember at any point before Season 2 of those series, where the showrunners (Berman/Braga) said, "Yeah, so we're already thinking about the next Star Trek series we're going to make." Yet that's exactly what Kurtzman did during the STLV convention this year. Season 2 hasn't even aired a single episode yet (January 2019), but he's gone out and talked about the "Short Treks" and the new Picard series. So it's almost like he's concerned that Discovery won't be renewed for a 3rd season, and he wants to move the discussion away from Discovery to the next show... which he hopes will be more successful.

And that's why they're talking about another brand new series with Picard, in an attempt to ditch Discovery and win back the fans. That's how bad of a situation they're in right now, especially with the whole Tardigrade lawsuit with the guy suing CBS for copyright infringement.

I just read up on that Tardigrade lawsuit. No doubt about it, CBS ripped the guy OFF totally...
