There seems to be an epidemic around here of trying to suppress opinions. I want to encourage everyone here to post any article you may find. There seems to be quite a bit of bullying going on around here. Any article from a national publication posted that gives alternatives to BD is automatically slanted, bias, improperly worded, or some other crap.

Lets not forget that BD is:

1. Facing other HD content, cable, satellite etc
2. 70% of homes don’t own HDTV’s.(biggest hurdle)
3. Much smaller difference between HDM vs DVD then VHS vs DVD.
4. Near HD content(upconvert), cell based upconverters on the way.
5. Very expensive, now with no incentive to lower prices.
6. Incomplete product, even 1.1 players sold today have no guarantee they won’t be obsolete soon.
7. High disk prices

I'm pretty sure the list could go on and on. So with all that said if someone has alternatives its not a crime. This bully tactic of nit picking around the edges of the articles is repugnant.

I hear you pot- do you really think the kettle is black?

Done. Maybe I'll go back to using the ignore feature.

1. this is the HD/bluray war zone. I'm sure everyone knows there are other ways to get HD programming but its not 1080P
2. same for any format or HD programming. not sure what your point is?
3. I'll let you do the multiplying.
330×480 (250 lines): Betamax, VHS, Video8
720×480 (520 lines): DVD, miniDV, Digital8
1920×1080 (1080 lines): HD DVD, Blu-ray
4. still not true 1080P...thought that was the purpose of HDM and the format war.
5. Other Manufacturers producing BD players create incentive
6. again with this profile stuff. does it play the movie? thats what i rented/purchase the movie for. profile stuff is extra's that i dont need.
7. prices seam to be the same between HD and BD disks.

The Blue Bullys are gonna tear you a new one.

Well, a lot of the people spouting predictions about the demise of BD are the same people that thought HD-DVD was going to win. I think people are ignoring or scoffing at their opinions because frankly they haven't been correct about anything yet.

After the fifth, sixth or hundredth time the same person makes a wrong prediction you start to get annoyed by their schlock.

How is engaging in an informed dialogue about the journalistic/factual merits of a posted article suppressing opinions or bullying? Anyone who would take it that personally when another poster is presenting counter views to their own does not belong in a war zone!

This kind of started in another thread.

http://www.satelliteguys.us/1253113-post11.html

It appears that some Blu people don't want to hear about the pitfalls of the format. It's the we chose the HD format that may survive so just shut up already bit. Socialism anyone?

This thread is kind of bait for an argument.

BTW, how can you suppress an opinion on a forum? I can see rogue mods doing it, but we dont have any here.

If you are going to get mad because you post a thread in a warzone thats obviousely going to start an argument, you should not.

If you cant handle people disagreeing with your post or even calling it for what it is(im not saying blu guys are always right), then you should stay in the HDDVD forum.

Sounds like to me, that you have thin skin and would like to see other opinions suppressed so that yours may thrive. Not how forums work, especially a war zone.

Attacks are one thing, but most are just tired of the same ol posts about stuff we ALREADY know and have argued about.

Argument bait? Uh yeah.

I think your just as guilty for posting threads that we all know will get heated and then crying about it. If you touch the stove and it burns you, dont touch it again.

Most of the threads in this forum are damn amusing now anyways, be fine when it closes.

Well put

I am not sure that it is "Bullying" or suppressing opinions to respond toa post by saying that you disagree with it. While some of you talk about "blue bullying" there is just as much anti Blu spin constantly churned out by the same sources.

In other words post what you want until the forum closes but calim that any post that disagrees with you is unfair.

BTW this forum is scheduled to close on 3/31 so if you do have something to post you need to do its oon or appeal to management to reverse the decision to close it.

What same source? These were different articles from national publications. Geronimo have you noticed any article no matter what or who writes it is always attacked as bias, slanted, poorly worded, or some other BS????? The writers are just giving other choices. Why can't a BD flaw be mentioned with it being considered a attack? If its a fact then its a FACT!!!!!

Also my post contained more than the word 'bully', none of the BD fanboys have cared to touch that.

TO MANY FAT SLOPPY SUBURBAN KEYBOARD GANGSTERS IN THE WORLD.

The problem I see here is that nobody thought that this was a problem during the height of the war. Many pro BD articles were posted and all the HD-DVD fan boys always called it FUD or attached it as biased, slanted or as you say other BS. I just find it funny now that the shoe is on the other foot that it has now become some major problem.

No one is suppressing your opinion. Your favorite format lost "the war' but no one has suppressed anyon's opinion.

You all failed to touch my question. Again since I don't think its a crime to provide alternatives, why can't a single article written somewhere on earth not be accused of bias, slanted, or (good one) improperly worded???
