Swanni asking Dish and Direct TV customers to demand AMC HD

I have no interest in AMC. It used to be an interesting channel but it has become more of a protracted infomercial in recent times.

They need to move the one or two interesting shows to a different network and go back to playing movies.

There was a time when they played the movies commercial-free. But when they stopped doing that, I stopped doing AMC - except for Mad Men now.

I like the comment about "the high price of obtaining programming," from the DirecTV guy. Kinda lends credence to the stated concerns of Dish.

Too much

If neither will carry the channel then it does lend credence to E*'s stance w/ them. Time for the Dolan's to loose their A on their over priced channels.

I could care less about Mad Men - but I am wishing for AMC in HD by October for the premiere of The Walking Dead. I know it will probably not happen but my fingers are crossed non the less.

I'm with you on that one. Also the release of FearNet would be a nice addition for October. Heard a rumor it was possibly coming to Dish.

Swanni has the bad habit of assuming "how the satcasters are underestimating the interest" in anything that he happens to be interested in at the moment. He has yet to figure out that he's not all that important in the scheme of things.

AMC? <yawn>
Maybe back when AMC stood for something: American Movie Classics. Not just another retread with the occasional original crap programming.

what?

What are you saying that Swanni is not important. Just ask him he will tell you he is all seeing. :D

I have to echo some of the sentiment here. I used to watch AMC constantly. Back in 1997 when I first came to Dish, it was one of the sticking points. Dish did not offer AMC at the time at all. When in March 1998 the channel was added, I was a happy camper. But then AMC (and Bravo) turned to crap shorty after.

I haven't even tuned to AMC since they started butchering movies, having 5 minute commercial breaks every 7 minutes and generally playing crap movies. Any movie available on AMC will eventually be on TCM, MGM, Retro, Fox Movie Channel (that's the one I want in HD) or one of several dozen commercial free channels that don't hack their movies for time or content. If AMC were to disappear from the line-up tomorrow, I probably wouldn't even notice until I stopped by here to get the news.

I feel the same way about Bravo...they used to show some pretty good movies now & then...I have a version of "The Godfather Chronicles" where the first & second movie were put together in chronological order. It's my favorite version of "The Godfather", but it's was recorded on my TiVo in analog and looks really crappy. Ever since I got HD I've been hoping Bravo would replay it, but all they show anymore is all that reality crap. I'm so sick of those kind of shows!

What? You don't like Bravo replaying Brokeback Mountain every other Saturday every other month?

I would say the original programming on AMC is FAR from crap, it's excellent. I don't watch it any other time myself.
