Adding my two cents, it's pixelated on CBS badly too. All live sports are pixelated for me though. It doesn't look like this on other channels and shows.

CBS will depend on your local provider. Here in Minneapolis watching it OTA it is great. Nothing to complain about, at least considering the state of broadcast picture quality.

Sports will bring out more pixelation because there is more action and movement which puts more demands on the encoders.

Are you watching OTA or sat? If sat, SD or HD? OTA should be about as pure as you can see from a consumer standpoint*.
Just depends on how the locals are spreading their bandwidth with sub channels. Here in Indy, none of our locals look any better OTA than Sat. I've done countless side by sides.

True. But my point is OTA is as pure as you're going to get. MVPDs can't improve what's handed to them, but they can certainly make it worse.
