The List of HD DVD titles

Wow! It's like a parade of new HD DVD titles today! Here are some more:

Image Entertainment - November 7:

Barry Manilow Live!
Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek Theatre
Heart: Alive in Seattle

Oh boy! Barry Manilow in HD . . . . not sure I can handle that.

But, this release announce is really big news - Image Entertainment owns the Criterion Collection. This could be the first step toward Criterion releasing on HD DVD, who previous stated they intended to "sit out" the format war. And, when DVD first came out & Disney and Fox said they would not release on DVD, some of the first Disney titles were released on DVD by Criterion . . . could history repeat itself? How about Fantasia by Criterion in HD DVD? :hungry:

Criterion Collection on HD DVD would be awesome!

I'll bet Potter will come out closer to the holidays. Maybe the same week the PS3 debuts. :)
Very well can be. Although http://www.hddvdprg.com/ is the official web site of HD DVD Promotion Group, their list had inaccuracies in the past too. So I will not be surprized if this August release date is a mistake. :(

Format war over, HD-DVD wins by way of pornography appearing on it first. Over in Japan GLAY'z, known for its "Brand-new-century-visual-super-exprotion-entertainment," just released the world's first adult film on HD-DVD... :D

And one more release announcement (what a week!):

According, to High-Def Digest, Eagle Rock Entertainment will orchestrate the industry's first "trifecta" cross-format release this Fall.

When the 2005 concert film 'The Pat Metheny Group: The Way Up' hits stores on October 3, it will bow simultaneously on Blu-ray, HD DVD and DVD -- a good four weeks before Paramount mounts a similar multi-format bow for 'Mission: Impossible III.'

Blockbuster online has The Break Up 10/17
Looks like this is now confirmed. Another HD DVD/DVD combo disc. Not sure why they are making so many of these? But oh well, atleast so far, the PQ has been excellent even on the 15GB discs.

So is That's the Way of the World still scheduled for tomorrow? Amazon lists it as 9/12.

If so, are any of the online rentals carrying it? I don't see it available at Blockbuster Online.

-John

Overstock.com still lists it as expected to ship on 08/29/2006, but there is a note that this date is subject to change. I guess we'll find out in a day or two.
