They have macros to do that I'd assume? Gotta keep the interns there busy I guess...

Of course those are numbers from TWC. I hear things have been quiet at DIRECTV over the removal.

In fact most DIRECTV retailers are reporting that they have have very few (in fact most said none) complaints over the loss of The Weather Channel.

This is a fight that TWC can't win. DIRECTV is not interested in talking to them until TWC comes in with a better price, a price which is lower then what they were paying TWC. The audience is shrinking as fast as their real weather coverage is.

But we dont really know if they are complaints about the channel being gone or Thank Yous for the channel being gone .... all of them being counted go in the same bucket, they just track the number of calls.

On top of that 750K is a drop in the bucket compared to DTV's 20 million plus subscribers. I would wager that number is lower as TWC got caught saying 2 million called DTV when that never happened, then they lowered it to just over 1 mil, and that never happened. I dont trust any number put out by the TWC.

All this flap did is illustrate how many folks are dissatisfied with TWC... To me it looks like DirectTV gambled and won big, and DISH now needs to learn a lesson from it and have a good weather replacement (at a substantial savings) when their contract is up. For folks who used to love what The Weather Channel did when it was great, and cringe at what a mess it has become - the last few weeks have been sweet revenge...

I bet most people didn't even know it went dark until they saw the news reports and Twc on Facebook acusing direct of putting public safety at risk. there are so Maney other sources now. cable providers now have their own local news and weather channel alot of the time and in a emergency your dish could get messed up and the ota would be your source. and not to mention smartphones and apps galor

News reports ? Didn't mainstream news outlets report it ? I doubt they did.

I saw on the Weather Channel Facebook page where the weather channel said "We listened and brought back the music " Then you could listen to all the songs it brought back. One of the posters said "Is this what you heard ?" well the music , at least in my opinion , should have been soft instrumental music , but instead it is hard stuff. Turned me off. Rather have no music than what they had.

Tornado coming...news at 5:00...LOL Remember when they actually gave us weather info?
They have totally lost insight on what "made" them.
Now it's all about the big buck.Way too many commercials and BS,and not enough weather.
I applaud directv
These broadcasters have gotten to big for their britches.
Wireless and internet have free weather,so why pay for it?? OTA channels have free 24 hour waeher sub channels like weather nation, which most likely will take TWC place. They have already in my case.
No love lost here.RIP weatherchannel

This is a life saving channel, we need it back on Directv.

Someone could actually die because they didn't turn on the weather channel before they left their home they didn't dress correctly and got stuck in the middle of a storm.

Seriously, I stopped watching the weather reports when I was around 13. I used to watch the weather to try to predict school closings. The weather reports where never accurate, so I stopped watching.

I wake up in the morning, look out the window and that's how I dress for the day. I really could care less of it's going to snow, going to rain or be nice outside.

I deal with the weather as it happens.

Only time I would care to watch the weather is if a hurricane was coming, and since I don't live in a costal region like Florida, I don't have much of a reason to keep up with the weather.

As far as Directv complaints from my customers. 2 calls and after I explained the replacement channels nobody seemed to care.

NOBODY CARES THE WEATHER CHANNEL IS GONE.

TWC has fired off an open letter to the satcaster’s board (read it here). The missive, signed by the Weather Company Chairman and CEO David Kenny, urges DirecTV to waive termination fees for customers who want to switch to a provider that carries the Weather Channel.

note: will merge with main topic later ...

I read a Q&A article with Kenny. Based on his responses regarding TWC and his perceived value of the service, I think he's a true believer.
One thing I read that almost made me spit out coffee was his claim that TWC's naming of winter storms gained more positive than negative feedback.
Yeah, OK....I believe that one.

TWC is scaredly desperate, all that money their losing from Directv, well that's what you get when you start showing reality crap, look what happened to G4 and TWC is going down that road.

it is stated that TWC is losing a potential 24% of inbound revenue due to the loss of 20 million D* subs.
I am guessing that when the TWC people run out of bluster( the thing about asking Congress to intervene) they will go to D* hat in hand, asking if not begging to get back in D*'s lineup.
TWC, you just ain't that well liked.

But not when I'm looking for what they're supposed to show WEATHER, and some cases when there's a storm there showing those programs, and they're talking about Directv putting lives at risk yeah whatever, Like if we don't have enough reality shows already.

Well I can agree but they do have the weather on the 8's... And on really bad weather it is all they play. I live on the gulf and any storm that is coming it's played 90% of the time. And when it gets close that's all they play. During tornados same deal. But when it comes to snow... Well let's be honest if you love in the north... Kinda expected... Idk I guess it's personal preference. I can say I watch the new weather channel a lot more then the old because of the shows.

NBC can go put those shows on Bravo, syfy or one of the other junk channels in their lineup if they want twc to be taken seriously again. Personally it can go the way of the dodo for all I care. We have enough weather coverage here from the locals as it is, not to mention the noaa/nws storm prediction center in Norman.

When I need weather coverage I couldn't get it on The Weather Channel. I used to LOVE the weather channel but not anymore. I get my weather online. Heck, the local news stations have better weather coverage on Facebook.

Should TWC be considered a News or Entertainment Channel?
