Is it possible to set up two Macs to use the same drive for Time Machine?

We have an external WD Cloud drive on my home network and our Mac Mini has been backing up to it for over a year. We want my wife's new MacBook Pro to do the same.

Sure, I've got three Macs backing up to my WD MyCloud. Just select the same backupdisk for the additional Mac.

Thank you. The WD Cloud page will only let me have one share designated for Tome Machine and it was throwing me off.

How does the second Mac know which backup to use if you had to restore it?

I never gave it a second thought, but I was backing up to an Apple Time Capsule. When I got the iMac I switched it over to the Thunderbolt EHD I got from LaCie. 10 Gbps > 1 Gbps!
