Ahh not so fast...

I took a look at the HD Temp Channels today on 61.5 and they are no longer all the same bitrate (indicating a static slate)

But today there is actual programming on all of those Temp Channels.

Take a look for yourself. :)

They mux has always had different bit rates per video stream when I looked at it. And that mux has been up for a while. They just had to move it around when the spotbeam stuff started.
 
Can anyone listen to the unscrambled audio on those channels to see what channel(s) they might be showing??
 
My receiver is set to show HD and SD nationals together in the list.

Is there a way to NOT show SD national in the list if there is an HD available?

Also, Allegedly Jackson, MS HD locals were turned on today. That doesn't help me right now since I don't have a 61.5 dish. When I am able to get HD locals, the will I still have to deal with an SD AND an HD version in the list?


The only way i know how to do that is hit the guide button I think, twice, and the guide goes to HD only mode.
 
I'm pretty sure I just got lied to by a CSR. that does not really surprise me though. it's what the lie consisted of. What jennifer(who had the most intense Indian accent i have ever heard from someone named jennifer) told me was that i would not need the second dish to pick up my HD locals. I was under the impression that everyone who was getting the HD locals needed the second dish? are there exceptions to that rule? I am located in the Jackson, MS market.
Try calling back and this time go for Tech Support. Tell them you cannot receive your HD locals on 61.5. You should be getting a new dish for free.
 
Just repoint dish to 61.5 if package is DishHD only + locals HD?

I am on a chat with dish (as I type here) to ask about adding 61.5 to get my locals in HD and the CSR says they only need to repoint my existing dish to 61.5 and i should be good to go. I subscribe to DishHD only and Locals.

No, look at the attachment and look at the PIDs for each video stream, look below them to find their corresponding audio stream(1 number off). You'll also notice those are red. Red = Scrambled.

CSR is an idiot.. IF you repoint your dish you will loose the 119 and 110 unless you already have a wing dish.

You probably won't "need" the second dish until tomorrow or when the press release comes out. :)
