I guess everyone that gave Dish till May 1st to get their HD act together will be leaving for D* now.

I was chompin' for SciFi-HD and USA-HD -- got thoses so I can chill for another month. I think that when the Eastern Arc gets launched the end of May we should see new National HD -- don't expect to see much till then. And I think we have to get those new cards for our receivers before we can really start to see E* add more National HD.

Seems like there are a lot of shill's for E here.
You're trying to change the subject from Us being promised National HD soon since February including Scott's don't switch until May 1st and you won't be sorry. Now you're putting forth that we really don't need those channels yet because there is no HD programing on them so just be patient they'll be here soon enough.
E is not your local sports team that you cover for though thick and thin, so please don't insult us with this lame reasoning.

Shill

A name people use when they know they don't have the goods to factually prove their statements and just want to call names.

Considering they have been testing Smithsonian HD, MojoHD, Tennis Channel HD, and MGM HD for awhile, if they have the contracts signed, all they need to do is make the channels available to subscribers. Someone in a senior position has made the decision not to release anymore national HD, instead concentrate on eastern arc.

The sad fact of the last couple months is, Dish Network has become a third and in some markets fourth tier provider. Directv and cable carry more national HD (excluding voom). Scifi and Usa were prime examples of that, as my local cable co's had those channels way before Dish, something that used to never happen.

Eastern Arc will not help Dish's bandwidth crunch as they will not be able to take down any existing channels from 110/119 until they get all subscribers in EA markets to migrate. In my opinion its going to be a big pain in their ass for at least the next year and a half.

Yes indeed! Someone taking a step back and looking at the entire picture. Look how long it took for the Superdish removal project. It's not an easy task.

I'm still wondering how they are going to piece together this EA system.

Excuse me! Nielsen ratings are always for OTA content and cable programming are not part of that.

Oh yes they are.

Here are the Nielsen ratings for cable programming:
Cable: Top 15
Rank Show name Network Viewers in millions

1. WWE Raw (Mon, 10 p.m.) USA 5.1

2. WWE Raw (Mon, 9 p.m.) USA 4.8

3. Suns vs. Spurs TNT 4.4

4. House (Sun, 10 p.m.) USA 4.2

5. House (Sun, 9 p.m.) USA 3.9

* Spurs vs. Suns ESPN 3.9

7. The Hills MTV 3.8

8. House (Sun, 8 p.m.) USA 3.7

* Hornets vs. Mavericks TNT 3.7

10. Finding Nemo Disney 3.6

* WWE Raw (Mon, 8 p.m.) USA 3.6

* Zoey 101 Nickelodeon 3.6

13. Nuggets vs. Lakers TNT 3.4

* iCarly Nickelodeon 3.4

15. Pistons vs. 76ers TNT 3.3

* Law & Order: SVU USA 3.3

Spotlight: Top cable channels

Rank Network Avg. viewers (millions) Pct. chg.

1. USA 2.7 +12%

2. TNT 2.3 +6%

3. Disney 2.2 -4%

4. TBS 1.8 +29%

* Spike 1.8 +56%

6. Nick at Nite 1.7 +33%

* ESPN 1.7 +19%

8. Fox News 1.6 +3%

9. Lifetime 1.5 +13%

10. Discovery 1.3 -19%

So, from that list we see that most of the top cable shows are sports on TNT and ESPN, which E* already had in HD, and then USA-HD, which was held up in negotiations, but now has been added.

Everything else that E* is missing in HD that gets high ratings are programming on Disney and Nickolodeon, which IIRC is not yet shown in HD.

Maybe they did actually add "a lot" of HD. But when 99% of the people heard that, they assumed, apparently wrongly, that meant a bunch of national HD channels would get lit up. We got 3. ...
There wasn't much assuming Scott posted on more than one occasion mentioning "National" here is one after Sci-Fi and USA got added...

Revisionist history seems to be the theme of this thread. Scott will be right no matter what happens tomorrow as he has posted we will get, we won't get, contracts were signed, contracts weren't signed, etc.
Scott runs a great site but there is NO "inside information" to be had here.
It is just too bad that there is NO owning up to what has been predicted but instead the denying of what actually was posted.
Does anyone REALLY believe Scott thought April was going to be a big month of HD additions because of HD locals?

????

I find it unacceptable as a customer though that those in Helena, MT and Yuma/El Centro are getting their locals when Dish is THIS far behind on national HD (even if many of the most requested aren't true HD) and they continue launching Podunk, B.F.E. HD locals while skipping Indy too. I have never been able to do a side-by-side comparison of Dish and DirecTV and SO easily see the better provider. LOL Time to call DirecTV.

Why don't we here in BFE Montana matter to you?? It's all fine and dandy that the larger cities are getting their LiL's. Why shouldn't we. Most of us cannot receive our Locals in HD by OTA. We live to far from the transmitters. Unlike most of you that are complaining about not getting yours in cities. Also if you look at the demographics, the three places in Montana that are to get their HD LiL's from dish network will cover the entire state, not just the towns where the stations are located. That's a possibility of over 900,000 people with three local markets. I would think that should put us pretty high on the list. DirectTV doesn't offer locals to a lot of Montana.

Whatever Scott may have said, Dish Network never mentioned May 1st as any sort of date.

Since they have their conference in mid-May, logic would indicate May 14th as a probable date, but that is still a guess.

The only timing info given by E* was "Spring", which ends on June 21st.

Every time there is a conference or show we hear that...CEDIA...CES...Team Summit.

If it happens it'll be pure coincidence.

Scott did say national HD, not locals when talking about the 5/1 date. It's not his fault that Dish, for whatever reason, changed plans.

Oh, and for those of you that are saying that some of these channels don't have true HD programming so they're pointless, you are wrong. If you've ever watched the SD version of a channel and compared it directly against the HD version (non-HD programming), you'll see a very big difference. If it's not going to be HD, at least it would be high quality SD.

Just because it keeps coming up, here is exactly what Scott said in now infamous post about "May 1st". Click on the "View Post" button to go and read the whole thread if you'd like.

I don't know if I could call it the day for the BIG national HD rollout on Dish as I have no idea how many national HD channels wil be launched, but it would not surprise me to see this be the start of the BIG April national HD rollout.

I will say that I have only reported the 10th date (which I have been told a few times now by contacts) becuase a number of CSR's have started telling customers that new HD is coming on the 10th as well. This actually scares me though, as the last time this happned and CSRs started confirming the date it DID NOT HAPPEN.

As I have said many times, if you are on the fence about moving and can stick around to May 1st then you should do so. As I said on the podcast the only folks who are not going to be happy are the folks looking for Speed HD.

A classic behavioral science experiment is to place lab rats under a little stress. Almost anything will do. Cut back on their food/water. or Randomly electrify the cage with a very low voltage, producing an extremely mild shock (just above a tickle). or Change the light timing (day vs night). And guess what happens...... The rats begin to fight amongst themselves :eek:

p.s. I wonder what they'd post on LabRats.US :rolleyes:

Let's cut all the revisionist history BS. I love this site and what Scott offers all the readers! I love the predictions and I hope that Scott does not quit feeding us rumors just because he doesn't want to get flamed by pissed off people when they don't come true.

But let's be real. We all know that Scott was talking about National HD when he talked about the "by May 1st additions". Don't rewrite it now to well they did add a lot of HD (LIL HD) that must have been what E* and Scott were talking about. We know better.

We need to just admit that this prediction (rumor was wrong this time). Not the first time won't be the last. It didn't turn out the way we had hoped. It is what it is. Just don't rewrite the stuff to make excuses.

Since Scott said that Dish told him there would be a lot of HD by the end of May we have seen the following HD channels come on line

...
Jackson, MS - ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox

So Jackson, Ms now has the local fox channel available?
Can someone else confirm this?
Thanks
I waited until I was sure no one else had responded. Jackson MS is still stuck at ABC, CBS, NBC (No Fox). Hopefully soon. I'm not sure if the lack of this channel is due to the any litigation or not. Holding out for CW maybe at some point too.

Amen.
But it doesn't matter anyway as I can see from the post that admit Scott missed another one, still think it was planned but DISH changed their plans. So Scott has NEVER been right, yet he has yet to be wrong. :rolleyes:

With the HD only PKG your supposed to get just the hd channeles correct? Why am I getting Bravo and TCM?They just came on today.

i predict more hd by may 1st 2009..my sources tell .//ha ha ha ..well with this site or any site these are all stupid rummors.we will all get the same channels at the same time .so whats the point of these sites other than something funny to read while surfing the net after work,,:
