[VOOM] Blue tint around people on my screen?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the group. I have a question. On my screen I see a blue
tint around people? This only happens when I use my VOOM box. I can
hook cable up to my TV and the picture is fine. Does anyone know what
may cause this?

Thank you

Thanks for the reply, but could you explain? What is that? How do I
fix it? This is a very annoying problem. Any help you can give would
be welcomed.

Thank you

Re: [VOOM] Re: Blue tint around people on my screen?

Your TV's menus should have a section for you to adjust the convergence. On
most RPTVs, you get a series of images on the screen in different colors,
and you use the video controls of your TV to align and adjust them.

Also, make sure the output is supported by your TV.
On the front far right--looking at the receiver--is a flip down door behind
which there is a red button.
Press the button and watch the orange bars on the front of the Voom
receiver.
Press it again and again until all are lit for a second the box is in "pass
through" or "native" mode--resolution in is resolution out.
Press it once more so that just the top one is lit for a second, that locks
everything to 1080i.
Let's use that setting for now and see if that helps the blue ring problem.

[VOOM] Re: Blue tint around people on my screen?

And these settings wouldn't change my cable channels? Is that because
I'm using a different kind of cable to get my cable channels? Because
they come in clear.

It probably depends on the TV, but adjusting the convergence shouldn't make
things worse regardless. The images from your cable input are also much
lower resolution, so they won't be as affected by improper convergence as a
hi-def image (if this in fact the problem).

[VOOM] Re: Blue tint around people on my screen?

If Wilts suggestion doesn't work see if your TV can run an auto
convergence. Manually dong it can be tricky.

Ok, last question...

So do you think it would be safe to say that it is not related to the
VOOM receiver? I have had a trouble call for this & the tech checked
all of the wires & replaced my box.

Blue gun

Adjusting your convergence hopefully will help.

If not, there is one othe thing to check. On most projection TVs, there is a red, green, and a blue lens. On most, the blue lens is actually not as focused as the other two. Yours could just be a little more out of focus than others. If you get the convergence right, and still have the problem, then adjusting the lens to get it focused might do the trick. 9The bad news is that you'll probably have to get a certified technician to do it unless your an acomplished tweaker.

One other question is: Does text also have the blue around it? If so, then that definetly could be your problem.

RE: [VOOM] Re: Blue tint around people on my screen?

I don't know, did you try the settings I suggested?

Also, if you are using the component connection make sure the blue is plugged into the blue on both the voom box and the TV. Same with the green etc. Also make sure the connections are not loose.

Why don't people ask the right questions?

firemanswife9112001

While viewing white text on a darker background, does the blue extend only to one side(and possibly up or down) or does it appear completely around the letter? Do you see other colors also out of register(like green or red?)

[VOOM] Re: Blue tint around people on my screen?

What you describe doesn't sound like convergence to me in that if it
was out, then it would likely be out on all signal sources.

Mis-convergence is the phenomenon where one or more of the 3 color
guns is out of alignment with the other guns.

When you view white type against a darker background, do you find the
blue off to one side and maybe up or down from the rest of the letter
(s). Do you see other colors also out of register?

If what you see is a blue glow that emits in all directions and it
appears on all inputs, then the problem is that you need either a
mechanical or electistatic focus performed for the blue CRT. Not
that big a deal, but probably more involved than most people would
want. If the set is still in warranty, it should be covered.

If the blue only appears on the Voom input, then there may really be
something wrong with the Voom box. A way to help verify this is to
move the cable used on the Voom box to one of the other inputs on the
TV that is working correctly. Its possible that the input that
you're using for Voom needs calibration(C/y delay).

I said this already, I really think this is the problem.
