VOOM charged me for "waived" installation fee.

A lot of us are disputing all kinds of VOOM charges. In my case American Express said they assigned the dispute to a specialist. Usually American Express solves a problem in a week or two. But this time months are going by. I imagine the specialist for American Express has quite a few VOOM issues going on, and it would not surprise me if they cancel VOOM's credit privilege.

Visa on the other hand is distributed through numerous companies and probably will not have the centralization of multiple complaints like AMEX. Therefore I would not expect a similar response. It will be quite interesting to see what the outcome of my AMEX dispute is this time!

Resolution

Wilt intervened and I received a promise in writing (e-mail) that the charge would be credited back to my account.

It is a shame that customers have to go through this just to get what is right. It is also a shame that Wilt has to get involved with a matter that should have been automatic. The people you deal with at the customer rep level have no concept of basic right and wrong. When you are promised something, that is a personal commitment and should be honored without assistance from elsewhere to show you what is right.

If you read this Wilt, thank you.

For those of you with similar troubles, keep at it until it is resolved.

Glad to see it all worked. I guess I can see that the CSRs are bottom rung man, they get trained that $200 is the cost for installation for a new account and then they don't know what to do in "special" instances.
