Just checked the VOOM site and it states: Voom has ceased taking new
customer and will shut down the end of March.

Bye bye VOOM.

Do You Yahoo!?
Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around
http://mail.yahoo.com

------------------------

I am guessing but I think they will not come back for
the equipment cause that cost money and what are they
going to do with that stuff? I think that it will be
obsolete by the time direct pust theirs in this fall
and they want new stuff.
If the website says its shuting down by the end of
March there will be no more signal never mind service.
They cant bill you for services not rendered but they
will bill right to the end of March

There is something else that will come to an end
This newsgroup and I am sure Wilt will miss it as will
some others but there will be more.
Some will go to sat radio and some will move to IBOC
and some will go to TV newsgroups but I wish all well
and that the best will come from this.
BTW I spoke to Samsung yesterday and the new HDTV sets
coming out in March will have a native resolution of
1080p and will be able to receive 1080p over the air

CSR Comments on Voom Website

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For whatever it is worth. A few minutes ago I spoke to a CSR from Voom in the San Antonio location. He said that the website voom falls under CVC control and was sorry the problem. However, Mr. Dolan Sr. still plans to launch a new Voom company with a different name after March and carry all the subcribers. He added that the new programming and new sattelite will still happen.

I'll believe it when I see it.

[VOOM] Re: It's Official

I was also told, that the website was taken down by "corporate" and
that a new site will be up ASAP. we'll see though.
This could get ugly Robert, I'm a Cablevision sub as well.
It appears a shake up will happen there as well... I might be a TWC
customer after it's all over LOL

Here's my theory:

I'm pretty sure the board would not want Dolan Sr. dumping all his shares
of stock to buy Voom. If that would happen it could have an adverse
affect on the CVC stock price and was probably greatly opposed by
shareholders.
If Mr. Dolan was unable to purchase Voom without selling some of his
stock, I can see why an agreement was not and will never be met. That
said, it would be fine if Dolan started up a new business from scratch and
did not actually buy any Voom assets until after Voom was shut down. If
he is that determined to have a High Def Satellite system, he will get it
done.
