[VOOM] No help anywhere!!

Gee, With all the glad handing about how great VOOM's customer
service is, it's a wonder that I still cant get a answer to a simple
question...they can't answer it, or wont answer, I can't get an
answer here, as this post site seems to be for frustrated video super
geeks only. I don't want to build a system myself, I just want the
stupid stuff to work as advertised!!!! I am just a consumer that
thought that the web site and the VOOM support would tell me the
truth about VOOM NOT being compatiable with TIVO..is it, or is it
not? I can't seem to get it to work with local channels, and the
switching is so erratic it's almost unusable. VOOM should correct
their web site, and start giving out real info. When does the TIVO
DVR come on line? Why doesn't the existing TIVO arrangement work? DTV
was better, not too many HD channels, but it worked!!!

[VOOM] Re: No help anywhere!!

Rob: it does work with a standalone TIVO. It is in the guided
setup as a choice. I have it working with no problems.

I can get it to work with channels over or >100 but no luck on the local channels. Have you encountered this. Thank you very much for the response...

Same thing here, however, you can manually enter the channels under
100 and it will tune them. I haven't tried, but understand they can
then be recorded, but without the usual TIVO features.

[VOOM] Re: No help anywhere!!

--My impression that stand alone DVR's will not function properly
with VOOM equipment due to picture degradation. I have no specific
reasons why, but it's what I heard through the grapevine. I also
heard that VOOM is working on an integrated receiver with built in
DVR, but no timetable for that. Hope it helps.

[VOOM] Re: No help anywhere!!

Rob, I'm sorry to hear you are getting the run around. The CSA's at
VOOM are telling you it is compatable, because that's what we've been
told. I didn't realize there was DTV version. I'll tuck that under my
hat.

How do you have it configured. Tivo, VOOM, TV? or is the Tivo in the
middle? I'm no tech head, just trying to figure this out with you.

Rainbow is holding fast to the 'Third Quarter' of 2004. With any
luck, this will mean soon. Trust me, we've been dying to see this
thing.

Hope you find a fix in the mean time.

I want to believe it. I like VOOM. But I have to tell you... with
so much still not working on your basic box, I don't have a lot of
confidence that the DVR will be out before Xmas, or up to par if it
is. :-(

I do hope so, and I hope the CC is fixed soon.

I KNOW you guys are all working hard--it's just very complicated
stuff to be doing.

I have to agree I see this receiver having a lot of problems as well and I don't see it coming out this year. I hate to say it as well but I see Direct TV giving half off the HD Tivo to costumers and have more HD channels , not as many as Voom . Please no flaming , I have Voom and like it but they need to get on it .

[VOOM] Re: No help anywhere!!

I don't mean to disagree with you, but, the VOOM set up is no more difficult
using a stand-a-lone Tivo Series 2 than Direct TV or Dish Network, It works
flawlessly and the channel chaning is spot on, something that Direct TV
ocassionally has issues with.
