VOOM orders five satellites to boost HD capacity to 5000 channels

hmmm....

I'm a E*sub and am patiently waiting out the Sat War to see what happens. I'm hoping E* purchases Voom soon so I can get more HD. How does this impact that speculation?

OK where are these satellites going...
62W, 71W, 77W, 119W and 129W ;)

Yes. Current STBs are upgradable to MPEG-4 via an add-on card (slot on the right side of the box) or via a software upgrade.

Voom, of course. They don't have to pay everything all at once. They have enough money to pay for the first year, at least. Also, $750M does not include launching costs, I hear.

Hong.

These next 2 years should be VERY interesting for all 3 providers.

OLD NEWS. But the contract has a provision where Voom can back out if it cant make payments after the first year.

Anyone looking at Rainbow2 yet?
