[VOOM] Rain of any kind and we lose signal (Pathetic)

Antenna appears to be dialed in. Any time it rains, we lose signal.
It has rained a lot this last month. We've been watching Dish Network
instead for weeks. This is pathetic.

What is the fastest way to get a bigger antenna installed? If this
does not get resolved soon the wife says it's gone.

Please help...

I am curious. Since I have never used a DBS, do they not all suffer
from Rain Fade? I thought it was more of a function of the frequency
of the signal, rather than the size of the antenna (Dish). For the
brief time I messed with KU band, I remember it being subject to
rain fade as well (on a 10 foot dish and a low temp KU LNB). With
Digital, you loose the signal completely, with analog; It just got
snowy for a few secs.

Is it the density of the interferance (rain) and the frequency of
the signal (voom) -or- the size of the dish that matters? Anyone
know for sure?

Rain fade can happen under different conditions, and the funny thing is it does not need to be raining at your house to have Rain fade issues.

Of course what cable does not tell you is that it is possible for them to lose some of their channels durring heavy rains as well.

Of course the bigger the dish the less rain fade you may experiance.

I have not had VOOM long, but I have been a Dish Network customer for close to 5 years now, and I only know of 6 times in those 5 years to lose signal from rain fade.

I get considerably more rain fade with DirecTV than with VOOM. It
could be time to repeak my own dish but I think my results are
consistent with the predominant direction from which we get our
weather here (often from the south which is where the DirecTV dish
is pointed). When I get rain fade with VOOM it is sometimes long
after a storm has passed out to sea and therefore east/southeast
from here - right in the LOS to the bird. I think only one massive
storm gave me problems with both dishes at the same time and I've
been a customer of VOOM's since last December.

[VOOM] Re: Rain of any kind and ... (Thank You Wilt !!)

Chris from Installs Inc. called this morning to let us know our
larger satellite antenna is on order and willa arrive to my local
installer within a couple days. He was very courteous on the phone
and appologized for any problems we were having.

This is top notch service. I did not even have to pick up the phone
to call Voom. Just doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks you Wilt. You are golden!

Rain Fade on DTV was hardly ever an issue and the funny thing is it never faded WHEN it was raining, but it faded just before it rained.

It took one helluva storm for DTV to go out, here if my sprinkers are set too high Voom goes in the crapper.

Each of the ten times a year it rained here in Los Angeles, I lost my DTV signal.

Since it doesn't rain in LA from April-Nov- it's good weather to watch Voom, baby!
