[VOOM] Should I Wait-Voom

I am in Atlanta. Actually having Comcast install the new hd/recorder
box on Saturday. Agonizing over whether to cancel and go with Voom
as I love the thought of more stations. The more I read of these
posts between new stations not coming till March, rain fade
compaints, the possible need to replace the dish for the new
Satellite to get those stations and lack of a date for the HD
Recorder I just can't seem to talk myself out of Comcast even though
I want to. Comcast is only 2 bucks more than the basic Voom package
with the HD recorder to boot. I keep telling myself to go ahead with
Comcast and wait till the recorder and the new stations are on line
so I know what the real cost will be and I can get the dish needed to
receive the new stations Voom is adding. My fear is they will charge
you to replace the dish, charge you to install the recorder. Am I
nuts?

[VOOM] Re: Should I Wait-Voom

One thing to remember is that you hear more about VOOM problems on
here than the positives (just see my posts). However, we love VOOM.
Don't know if it fulfills your requirements now. Only you can answer
that. I doubt VOOM will charge for the new sat antenna. I wouldn't
worry to much about antenna size in Atlanta--you should have a good
shot at the sat. However, out here in little ole Seattle tis a bit
different.

We have Comcast for broadband internet but would drop them in a
heartbeat if we could get other service. That said their service has
been reliable. Their analog TV channels are very poor quality. We
don't subscribe to the digital TV.

I'll be you'd love what is currently available on VOOM!

Might be nuts and thks for the input. I decided to go ahead with the
Comcast install tomorrow. No they don't have as many HD stations as
Voom but they have all the locals except ABC (negotiating), they have
ESPN, INHD1 and 2, TBS, Discovery soon to add TNT and supposedly have
other stations they are adding in January (rumour). Also as of Feb
(also rumour) all analog stations will be broadcast in digital and
analog so picture quality should improve on those stations. $29.95
to install and $67 per month (don't need HBO) and no committment.
They are getting smart as they are only charging 9.95 a month for the
dual HD tuner/PVR and like a lot of others the PVR is a deal breaker
for me. I am not leaving this forum as if Voom adds those stations
in March and if they have the PVR for a reasonable rental fee I will
certainly jump. Thats one of the nice things about Comcast, you can
jump anytime you want to. Also need to get another HD TV as I have a
projector which out of my 3 TV's was the only one I could watch HD on
anyway so I figure I will have the cash for that in March. Plus if I
need a different dish cause they are adding channels would rather do
it at one shot and get the PVR and everything else installed at one
time. Thx to all for the input.

I went with the cable company for the DCT6412 DVR, man I love it.
I am hanging on to Voom till the end of the year, or until the wife says enough.
I hate my cable company and I wish I could find a way to put Voom on hold (Leave the satellite, no service until they get their DVR) but Voom does not like any of my scenarios.

It is sa tuff call, I love Voom.

Re: [VOOM] Re: Should I Wait-Voom

I'm about to drop Comcast for Voom. Comcast has a
decent HD line up but I want more and Voom offers
more. I don't have a DVR yet so I don't know what I'm
missing there. From what I heard through this group
and Satguys the OTA is a better picture than the
cableHD locals I guess time will tell.
