[VOOM] VOOM + Cablevision Basic service ..possible?

Here is a possible politically charged question, but I have to ask.

If one lives in a current Cablevision area is it possible to "do"
the following

1) Take the VOOM service for say $40 pm

2) Downgrade ones Cablevision service to Basic for $11 pm

Of course I realise this doesn't include taxes and cablevision box
charges.

I guess it's political because it's possibly taking money from one
Cablevision entity and putting it into another.

How would VOOM cost out such a service for say 3 rooms? I
would "only" use the Basic service in a digital way in one room (I
guess for any HD local channels).

I have this arrangement but I have the Va Va Voom package. When I placed my order with Cablevision I told them that I had just installed Voom and would like to downgrade my cable service to basic cable and they didn't question my decision. I think Cablevision understands that there will be folks leaving cable to sign up with Voom. I live in South Jersey.

exhumm!! EXCUSE ME but BASIC CABLE FOR $11 !!!! Are you SERIOUS???

Basic Cable here in Houston is $25 !!!

You're lucky up there!

Sorry. I meant to say Family Basic for $11/month. This gives me all of my local channels and spanish channels (a total of 21 channels). Basic cable is also around $25/month so don't feel like you're being cheated. Sorry for causing the confusion.

90 percent of cable companies do not filter out Basic when ordering Lifeline/Family cable for 11 dollars.

I've done this for years, order Lifeline for 9-12 dollars per month, connect the cable right to your TV and get the 29/39 per month package.

Its either done through the box, which you eliminate, or they RARELY will send a tech out to install a filter.

So I guess I could call Time Warner and get their most basic service but
honestly, I'm going to wait it out until VOOM adds the channels. In the mean
time, I have friends I can go over to on Friday evenings to watch Stargate
Atlantis and SG-1.

But thanks for the info! :)

Robert

Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems illegal.

Not illegal unless you do something to try to defeat whatever
countermeasures they have instituted. This doesn't sound like that.
