[VOOM] VOOM INstall

Thanks, Aldo. VOOM is like dessert. It was never designed to be the main
course. You still need some way to get your local SD channels.
Various articles have said VOOM is for the "video enthusiast" market.
Hopefully, the psychographics on the typical VOOM customer would indicate
that he/she knows what the terms quad-shield, ATSC, OTA, DVI, Component
mean. Not so the average TV viewer, who still has 12:00 AM blinking on his
VCR.
I'm no techie, but my hobbies range from digital cameras to radio, and I
take all the car mags as well as all the HT rags. I like toys, even though
my budget is limited.
I live in a very modest older home of 1450sf, but it's wired to the hilt.
All of us could run wire and probably going to have to learn this stuff as
labor is very expensive and they don't do it like you want it.
Check out www.hometech.com and their OPEN HOUSE structured wiring products.
Cut out a section of your closet wall and stuff one of these panels in. Add
modules for phone, cable,a buss bar for satellite, and hook up a cable modem
and router and you can have it all in every room. I've got outlets for 3
phone lines, satellite, cable and computer in the space of one electrical
outlet. I put two six port outlets in the 14x12 family room for the HT
because the cable companies are going to be running fiber instead of RG6 to
your house someday as the limited bandwidth of copper is going to be a
problem with HD. Already, Cox here is supplying telephone, internet, digital
and analog cable including limited HD on one RG6. That's almost the entire
1ghz bandwidth!
So, guys, let's wire up! Don't depend on one source for everything. You
can't get everything at Home Depot.

[VOOM] Re: VOOM INstall

We've noticed that a good many of our cx know about how things are
wired, plugged in, that there are more dvi cables than the port
offered by VOOM, and a good deal more. SMILE
