Good:
1. Most HD offered anywhere.
2. Subscription very reasonably priced.
Bad:
1. Several complaints about bad picture quality.
2. Several complaints about hardware upgrads gone wrong.
3. Less channels. Even though the channels that are missing may
not be the most watched, they still don't offer them to the people
that may be looking for them.
4. Cannot activate a used system (this is hurting them most). They
force you to either pay $9.50 a month for the receiver or $399 or
more brand new. I honestly wonder how many customers they turn down
on a daily basis? I'm sure this keeps DirecTV and Dish Network
happy.
5. Voom specific HD channels play the same thing all the time.
I've heard several issues of repeated play on these channels.
6. No guarantee on channel availability. The Starz! package may go
away at some point. And if it goes away they can't answer what they
would do for the customer.
7. Apartment installs denied. Yet again they throw away more
customers.
8. Customer service reps extremely unknowledged. When calling
originally I asked the direction I'd need to face to pick up the
signal. I was told "southeast". I asked if they could be more
specific and they said "No, that's all we've been told.".
9. They are control freaks. They seem to need control over every
aspect of their service in "our" residence. A tech has to do
everything. They make me feel like I'd never be able to fix
something myself.
10. Availablilty of techs to do the work when something does go
wrong. I've seen many occurances of people without service for
several days due to poor communication or any other issues between
Voom and their techs.
When all is said and done I think Voom is going to shoot themselves
right in the foot. I couldn't imagine another company that would
turn down not only business from prospective customers... but they
are turning down the revenue to get their company off the ground and
as a result will never become popular or widely known.
