Whew... Boy, things sure can get heated in here at times.
A few years back, I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Bob Cooper (Coop) - the father of TVRO. We discussed the late 80's and early 90's timeframe of the satellite industry. Something that Coop said still is true to this date. He said that C-Banders are 'passionate' about their systems. We can clearly see that people are still passionate about their systems.
We see the same in all industries. There are people who will swear that vinyl record albums sound better than CDs. Some people like dot matrix printers instead of laser printers for various valid reasons.
It all comes down to our individual needs. If I were a bachelor without any wife and kids, I very likely would live off of what I could get on free-to-air, and over-the-air. But... I have a wife and 2 kids, and they "need" their Disney Jr channel from the small dish.
The last time I checked, we all were free to make whatever decisions we want when it comes to tv. Not one solution will fit everyone. It's time to stop fighting, and to all go out for a beer together and be glad that we're all watching TV via satellite, which offers more choices, rather than being spoon-fed down a cable tv line.
