Rented The Painted Viel, this is a sleeper movie that if you like drama and a bit of history of China during its time of the Peoples army then this is a good one for you and your spouse.

Ghost Rider was anothe recent rental, the kids will like it but for the adults it does leave something to be desired specialy if your a GR comic fan from back in the day. Most of the special effects are good but they look mediocre on the villian with his messy businessmans hair cut.

Bridge to Terabithia, this is a good one for special effects and a twist on the typical repressed artist kid living with a poor family story line. I would consider this a family film but it there is a non visible emotional part to this film that will make the emotional tear up ( note, this comes right after the lead character gets back from the mueseum ) but this is a good film all the way through with a 4 star ending.

Reno 911 Miami, Ok I knew this would be a tacky film but it does have its funny moments, this is not for kids at all unless your ok with your teenage boys seeing naked women and a couple in the throws of soft core porn. I liked it enough, it probably would have been better if I had downed two or three beers but it does get the laughs. The unrated version has the above mentioned scenes, the rated version most likely has the couple scene omited.

Letters to Iwo Jima, I just couldnt get into this film no matter how I tried and I ended up on the computer 30 minutes into it. It does get bloody during the battle scenes more than Flag of our Fathers does so its not for the squimish.

Just got through watching Gladiator. My all time favorite movie. If I watch that one and Rocky in the same day......don't cut me off in traffic.....lol...:D:D:D;)

Stranger Than Fiction with Will Ferrel was something that was much better then I was expecting for a Ferrel movie.

Pans Labyrinth is a good movie but its not for kids and those who are squimish as there are some brutaly bloody scenes in this movie. The film is all in spanish with english subtitles so dust off that high school language class and sit down for some good movie. The special effects in this movie are excellent and with this being a non hollywood film you'll definitely be in for a treat. If you cant keep your kids from watching then be sure to cover their eyes about 15 mins into the film when the captain comes outside at night to question two men caught in the woods. Another point(s) is whenever someone is brought into the storage room for interogation, the final one with the captain and a woman isnt pleasant to watch and looks just as realistic as the scene at the 15 min mark.

The Messengers gives a nice Alfred Hitchcock twist on the scary movie and again this is not a movie for kids, rather I would say that its a good date movie so get the popcorn and some drinks and turn out the lights. The special effects in this movie are very good and right from the start its a good movie that will holding your breath. The only special effec that would at first seem cartoonish is at the beginning but if you stop and think about who is seeing it then it makes sense. To some degrea you might be reminded of two movies that this marginaly paralels, one is Dark Waters and another I cant remember the name of but its a haunted house movie where the whole family gets wiped out by the ghosts of the dead kids but dont think along those lines, the outcome is something you wont see coming.

Watched SHOOTER last night. Not bad, a little slow in the middle. Ending was anti-climactic. Very graphic, lots of head shots (obviously). All in all a pretty good action flick. Recommend it as a rental, not a purchase.

Flushed away is another we watched recently, good kids movie and the parents should enjoy it to. Decent and non complicated plot so the kids can follow it and mom and dad wont have to worry if they miss something, theres also a spoof of inspector Clueso that those of us who have seen the old school pink panther movies will get a laugh out of.

Picked up Shooter, Black snake moan, Sublime, and Zoom to watch for the week.

Just finished Black snake moan,

Not a movie for kids both due to nudity and heavy language, that aside this is a good bluesy southern movie that is very believable. Samuel L Jackson and Christina Richi both are great in this movie and I wouldnt be surprised to see them nominated if they havent already for their roles.
