Today's 3D can hardly be compared to the 80's.
You're showing your age. Started long before that...even before House Of Wax.

There appears to be a lot of stuff available for little or no cost that cableco's, DirecTV, Fios, etc carry that Dish just doesn't deem worthy. They made such a fuss recently about carrying HBO OnDemand, yet they don't carry all of it, so it seems.

I can remember watching the NBC test pattern for hours.
Oh? Does Dish have HBO Go on their DVR's now? Last time I checked, it was still the very limited HBO OnDemand. Not sure I get that point. Dish also allows HBOGO with ALL the content, Direct TV does not.
I have nothing against 3D, and have enjoyed watching a few 3D titles myself, but what irks me is the industry push for it and the subsidizing of the technology for all HD TV consumers to pay. If I want 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound instead of just DD2.0, I can go buy the equipment to make it work, not pay for it up front whether I intend to use it or not.If you buy an expensive new TV it WILL be 3D. No other options.
I almost forget. DirecTV does allow its HBO subs to access HBO Go. But, not on all devices. PC's are OK. Roku is not.Not sure I get that point. Dish also allows HBOGO with ALL the content, Direct TV does not.

Therein lies the problem. They do it because they can, and people are forced to pay for it, or stay with their outdated technology. All marketing nonsense. It costs next to nothing to add 3D, HDMI 1.4 instead of 1.3 and some software modifications, that's all. They do charge a lot more just because they can.
XP is better than Vista, of course. But, an Etcha-Sketch is better than Vista. But, it is not better than Windows 7. Not at all.Good post(s), Livesaver...
In the case of Windows XP, it truly is better than its Vista and 7 successors.
