Why do people bash Voom? It's great.

Going over the threads - there's been more than a couple times that people say they don't care about the Voom channels and they wouldn't mind them being dropped to free up bandwidth.

I'll admit that I haven't had HD for long - but Voom is great. Equator and Monsters are two of the channels I watch the most (although FoodNetwork HD is my favorite). The picture is much better than TNThd or StarsHd.

Why do people not like Voom? They still make new programming for those channels right?

I love Voom! They have shows on there that you will not see any where else! :)

Sure, Voom is great. Over and over and over again. Sure they add new programming. Maybe as much as one new episode a month.

The complaint is it's rudundant. Seems that they could put the same programs on fewer channels instead of sucking up so much bandwidth. Meanwhile we pay for this repeat programming each and every month. I think I have Ski P.I.G. memorized.

You'll see! Over and over and over again!

i remember when the VOOM community dominated this place. Out of curiosity what did VOOM offer besides its homegrown channels?

Yes, too many repeats, but I still find things there I want to see. Whatever happened to that proclamation that Voom was going to start cranking out more new programming to cut down on the repeats?

Or was I dreaming?

How many times can a person watch Friday the 13th and Frankenstein on MonstersHD and John Mayer or Lindsey Buckingham on RAVE? Maybe E* should lower the price for the HD pack and charge for VOOM separately, for people who want to watch the same programs, over and over and over again.

I believe that they should be comparable to the Directv price of $10.99 for the tech fee, since DISH is going to charge a tech fee too, instead of labeling it by the name of the hd pack. Otherwise it looks pretty bad to keep hiking the price of the hd pack . Voom is not worth the extra $10.00 . I love Monsters hd and RAve but the rest of the channels I really don't watch much.

Voom's content could easily be shrunk to 1 or 2 (3 at the most) variety channels, along the lines of HDNet or InHD. It is such a waste to spread it over so many specialized channels.

Equator - Like the Travel Channel (my favorite)
Rave (Like MTV - but too many repeats)
HD News (Headline News - also a favorite)

Keep these three as is

Combine the movies and mix up Ultra, Treasure, Gallery to make one!
Sports should combine together for another!

That makes 6 ... I would be very happy with these 6.

When I had the VOOM satellite service, I had over 40 HD channels. Their home grown channels do become redundant - but I like the content overall.

I'd miss Monsters and Filmfest and Family.

I like the content of several VOOM channels. But I wish there was more new material. The number of repeats is astounding. Over the course of a year some of the programs are aired 50 times.

I used to think that VOOM was holding a lot back, to parcel it out over time. But after this long, I'm now thinking that they just don't have very much programming.

I'm not sure they have enough programming to fill more than 4 or 5 channels if their repeat rate were the same as a "normal" channel.

Enjoy your new HD:):) You will love it!

After awhile it starts to repeat and get old....:confused: Yet as others have responded repeats are great!!! I'm rocking with Fleetwood Mac... Tusk... Watching Mick pound those drums...

We enjoy the variety of most of the Voom channels, there are too many repeats and this shows there isn't enough hd programming to fill the slots. At least Voom doesn't show paid programming starting at 2 am cst like HGtv & Food Network. I recently scanned the local PBS station thru ota, after getting the guide info on the subchannels in Houston, I noticed that the PBS (KUHT) shows are repeated frequently throughout the week, again just not enough hd programming to go around.
