Why does DISH continue to label Ch. 232 as "Rural TV" ?

It's been over 3 years since Rural TV shut down (1-1-13 to be exact), when it was acquired by RFD-TV.... The channel was replaced/ converted (by RFD-TV) to FAMILYNET Network, airing classic shows and series, nothing to do with rural-themed programs...

Yet, DISH continues to label Channel 232 as "Rural TV" even though it's been carrying "FamilyNet Network" for over 3 years in that slot.... Even the old, now dead, Rural TV logo continues to show up on the Hopper EPG Ch. 232.....

Do the DISH Uplink Techs not get the memos announcing when channels disappear and get replaced by another channel ??? Or do we get DIRT to walk on over to the Uplink Center and type in the correct network name and logo for Channel 232 ???

I have wondered the same thing, but as long as the programming is there and the guide data is correct, it really isn't a big deal.
Also, RFD didn't "acquire Rural TV" they started Rural TV, and then, they acquired FamilyNet and merged it into Rural TV.

Well, it is a "big deal" if a channel isn't titled correctly. It should be updated.

Not really, it is in, your opinion programming is still there and the guide is correct. I guess you can live with it or remove it from your favourites until Dish corrects the issue.

RFD (the owners) would need to be the ones to make the request to change the name.

Assuming RFD even knows this is going on.....

Why on earth would RFD want DISH to keep in the Guide the name of a dead network they themselves (RFD) killed off 3 years ago ??? Makes no sense.... How else would they expect DISH subscribers to find their new "FamilyNet" in the Guide ?

239 is/was WGN America. Probably not much interest in correcting a logo problem.

To further expand on that, it's very possible that the carriage contract has specifics on how they want their name shown in the guide, what logo to use, and so on. The current contract (even if it's a few years old) still applies and it may say to use "RFD" as the identifier in the guide.

There is already another channel named "RFD" and it's on Channel 231.... The incorrect name still being used is "Rural TV" for Channel 232 where Family Net is now airing.... Rural TV was shut down by RFD on 1-1-13....

It makes no sense for RFD (under any contract) to order DISH to keep naming a dead channel 3 years after it died-- on its Channel Guide..... The on-air promos all sell the Family Net schedule (with zero rural-themed programming)--- so why would they confuse viewers with having to find Rural TV instead ? ....

We wouldn't accept DISH still naming Fox Sports 1 as "Speed Channel" ....or Fox Sports 2 as "Fuel TV".... or "FXX" as "Fox Soccer Channel".... or Freeform as "ABC Family".... or Pop as "TVGN".... or FYI as "Bio".... or FM as "Nuvo"....and on and on and on....

So why would it be OK for Family Net to still be named incorrectly 3 plus years later ? 3 plus years !

You are so damn right! Can you imagine calling the Viceland Channel H2? Or the Pop TV, the TV Guide Channel? or the Freeform Channel, the Family Channel? Ridiculous. Change the channel listing title and change it now!
