"Chirping" usually indicates the switching power supply is shutting down in protection mode. It could be fixable still, if you have somebody that knows how to use a digital meter to check for bad caps, maybe a shorted diode or power regulator.

But, it might not be worth repairing...

Well I'm out of the market now, I went on ebay and found one that was new in the box, never activated with all the cables and remote and manuals all still sealed in the bags for $77 shipped.
As for fixing this one, meh.. That's much above my abilities. I wasn't afraid to try and replace that one burnt part but I have no way or skills beyond that. I guess it will go in the junk pile for potential future spare parts.

So I guess we can close this thread. Thanks guys for your help, it was a good try but I guess this one's time has come and gone.
