This LIL map sucks. Did they abandon Texas for new HD locals? I guess they are waiting on new sats.

Check out SatelliteGuys.US - Subscription 61.5°W or www.dishchannelchart.com

There are markets in TX uplinked (or at least provisioned to be uplinked). The map was horrible as far as acurately putting dots on markets. More likely they wanted to make the map look full, yet be inaccurate enough that you could not really pin them down on saying they were going to offer a specific market.

On the topic of external HDs.. Is / Will it be possible to record directly to an ext HD if you run out of space in your DVR? More HD channels means more stuff recording in HD meaning needing more recording space..
That question wasn't brought up, you will still have to move programs to the EHDD when the Dvr gets full... ;)

It looks like Charleston WV HD locals have been dropped off the map as well and was probably due to AMC-14 being a failure.

Digital Transition

Dish Customers won't be affected, but people with OTA will be greatly affected by the digital transition.

So if we have OTA and it is routed through the 722 won't it still work after 2/2009?

Local Channel Map

Hello all, first actuall post, great site. Have question on the map that has the dots stated in beginning of thread. I went to dishnetwork.com and logged in but I do not see any map listing locals with dots, could someone please advise what page this info is on. Thanks in advance.

Those are screen grabs for the TV show "Tech Chat" that Dish airs from time to time (this time being May 12). It has been re-airing as well on channel 100. They're almost more accurate than anything on the website since it comes more direct from the horses mouth rather than from the jockey (aka the website). I believe in the first post they also describe what each color dots means. Also, as many of us have come to realize, all of the "soon" issues are subject to change.

Q: Tom
DishNetwork announced earlier this year that they would enable receivers like the Vip211 to use an External Hard Drive, will there be additional fees to enable that option and when?

A: July or August timeframe, there will be a $49.99 one time fee.
(($49.99 vs $39.99 on the dvr's but this turns the Vip 211 into a dvr) Possible that the fees will be a standard of $49.99 on all receivers, one fee will cover all receivers in your home)
You know, this is one thing that I don't think we've really discussed. They announced they will be increasing the fee (one time I know) for the External Hard Drive activation. Combine this with the DRM situation and it is becoming tougher and tougher to have anything on there (yes, I know DRM is not their doing).

Have we heard any reason why the increase? I didn't like the fact that they charge a price to begin with.

What about if you already paid for the EHD activation fee for the 622 and 722? Will they charge another $49.99 for the 211?
