Man, just when I got used to it... gone again!! Just in time for XIII!!!! Thanks Dish!!! (Yes, I am being sarcastic).:confused:

How is this old news? I had a timer set for new episodes of XIII in HD... and this thread just made me realize that it didn't record last night. What is the deal with this?

I don't really get why it is not just HD all the time. Several of the shows on there are in HD, yet Dish keeps switching it out. You would think they would want as many HD channels as possible.

It was posted here when the HD version was uplinked that is would be for a short time while a program (don't remember which) was being shown and would be shut off once it was done. Reelz also did this for "The Kennedy's". It is Reelz's deal, not Dish's.

It's a totally new thing to me. Never heard anything about it until now. Just discovered that HD was in my guide one day and now after this thread started it's gone. I'm totally in the dark about this one. Reelz being the true culprit, I'll buy that, but please be more forthcoming with why!

According to Reelz website, it's still in HD on Dish and U-verse. So, perhaps it's not Reelz' deal, after all. Dish may have chosen to remove it.

I guess that one way to tell is to have someone with U-verse check their lineup, and see. (Reelz site says channel 1799. But, it may be different in other areas.)

Since no one wants to search for themselves, I took the time to do it. This was posted by Scott Greczkowski on 3/26/2012: Effective Wednesday, March 28, Dish Network will launch REELZ HD temporarily as part of HD 120 and higher & HD Max. This launch is in conjunction with the premier of REELZ’s first scripted series, True Justice, starting Friday March 30, 2012.

The special offering will end on June 27, 2012 at the end of True Justice’s season.

AKAIK, the only "part time" provider is Dish according to a Google search. Can't imagine why Reelz would want it that way.

Dish didn't provide me with HD equipment, so I have no dog in this fight, but you'd think they'd just not add the HD version of the channel in the first place if they planned right from the get-go to only add it temporarily and then drop it in favor of SD-only again. It only serves to call attention to the fact that there is an HD version of the thing out there for viewers not in the know, and creates a little negative publicity and general confusion when it disappears. I've never had a DVR, so I'm not 100% familiar with the technology, but I also understand that this could effect people's recording timers and such- like the fellow on the thread who said the show didn't get recorded because he'd set it to record it on HD Reelz and the timer didn't automatically grab the SD feed instead when the channel downgraded.

It just seems like a poorly thought out decision to do something like this temporarily. More trouble than it's worth. Either add the HD version of the channel or don't.

OK, I missed that, but how about better customer communication from Dish? Not everybody who has Dish reads this board.

My email to Reelz:

Subject; Dish HD

"What gives? Now they have it, now they don't. I want answers or at least have it back on Dish in HD. Lip service alone will not be tolerated."

I guess we'll see if there is a response.

So, where do you get out of that Reelz wanted the HD channel off??? Sounds like Dish's deal.

So we got reelzhd for the kendys and the Steven Segal show but when Xiii starts that is another original scripted series hd gets yanked. I enjoy watching Xiii but hd would be nice. I guess bc Xiii isn't the first original scripted show or a mini series that's been bonded around until they had the guts to air it we get screwed

If it was me, I'd ignore it.
OTOH, if it was a normal inquiry requesting information, written in a polite and non-antagonistic manner, I'd respond.
