The big push this year is mobile viewing. That's why they are giving iPads away. The more people try out the mobile viewing and like the easier it is to keep these customers sticky.

Good idea... although to really do it correctly the iPads need to be 4G ready, not WIFI ones. (I am guessing the ones they are giving away are WIFI models)

Dish has made great strides with 2 & 3....#1, not so much....

I would agree that the affordable part could be worked on but for everything Dish is offering the customer it's still the best value out there.

So how much is this "mobile viewing" and how much is expanding viewability with equipment Dish doesn't have to bother inventing? Using the iPad or other tablets allows other people to stream anywhere in the home, without having to use a Joey or a receiver. This would appear to be a partial attempt at reducing overhead related to receiver costs. Let Samsung and Apple pay to develop tablets.
