I have to say I am so impressed with this App. I just upgraded from my old Motorola Razr Maxx to the Galaxy S4 and I was blown away. The bigger screen and the 1080p screen makes the Dish App kick ass. I've been wanting to watch the first season of Banshee on Max. So for lunch I just opened the app and there it was on demand. Dish provides so much content with this app. On demand, DVR content, scheduling and LIVE SPORTS!!!.

I have been with Dish for about 8 months now. I am still impressed with The Hopper DVR and with Dish in general. The DIRT team has answered all my questions and made signing up great. I just wanted to post this and say thanks. I had questions before I jumped and they were answered by some forum members.

Dish Anywhere, Hoppers (including speed and reliability), 50% off premiums, online support, and DiRT are the main reasons why I stay.

I keep receiving comeback offers from DirecTV (in fact just received another one 2 days ago) which includes the Genie and 4 rooms, Sunday Ticket, discounts and they will even pay my ETF. However, my past experience with their support, the lack of a real view anywhere app, still no GenieGo app for the iPad (after how many years?), makes me stay with Dish. The funny thing is that if they had given me a discount on a Genie and 2 clients last year when their guide changes crippled my 3 DirecTV Tivos, I would have gladly stayed, I now feel that they actually did me a favor.

hell it hasn't been a week and i already received a comeback offer via mail.

I started getting them before I even got the boxes to ship the D* gear back! :)

And now I get 2 emails a week and a few snail mails each month since I left.

To be fair, D* did offer me a Genie (HR34) upgrade with a fair offer, but I left because I wanted some channels in HD that they still don't have. While I do miss a couple of HD channels did offer that E* doesn't, overall it was a positive change in programming for me.

And couple that with the Hopper, Dish Anywhere that actually works well, 1/2 price premiums as others have said and it was a great financial change too!

how long did it take for you to receive the boxes? tomorrow will be a week since i left and haven't received the boxes. i don't want any surprises on my bill later on of you know what i mean.

I think it was right about a week from cancel to boxes, maybe slightly longer.

When you finally get them and ship, remember if you take it to the post office which for me was the simplest, there is no way to track the shipment back all the way to Direct. I was tracking mine and the PO showed it 'picked up by shipper agent', which I assume was FedEx, but you couldn't track it further.

If you take it to Fedex you get a legit tracking number that can be traced all the way to Direct.
?

I am noticeing a much better picture quality when using the Dish App with my Hopper with sling then I was with my sling adaptor on my other Hopper, not sure if the "sling" in the Hopper helps out when watching it over an ipad or anything like that, or just way to happy with the Hopper with Sling :)

so even with a usps label i can drop it off at a fed ex? i would rather do that and as you mentioned, be able to track the packages. is it mandatory to send them the remotes too? the csr mentioned to include the remotes.

Its smartpost. USPS carries it part of the way, hands it off to Fedex, then Fedex carries it the rest of the way. One of the worst services ive ever seen used.

I have scans of this crap somewhere but can't put my finger on it.

The instructions in the box say you can take it to the PO or Fedex and the label shows the Fedex number on it also.

But if you take it to the PO you don't get a receipt from them at all, or at least my local one didn't provide me one even after I asked.

And that PO tracking number was not trackable through Fedex in my case.

As to SmartPost, yeah it is the worst way to ship something you are worried about! After I dropped mine off at the PO and tracked it as far as I could, I emailed D* at told them I shipped it and it is in the hands of 'your selected shipper' and that I considered my part done and expected no further billing. I don't know if that makes a difference, but I wanted to be proactive just in case the damned stuff got 'lost' in their system. It has happened often enough for their to be threads now and then about that very thing happening with the big bill to go with! :(

Yeah, it is untrackable and slow. 2 reasons to not want to use it with something you might get billed for. I came very close to paying for shipping them back because of the issues that sometimes come up with 'non-returned' gear.

What I learned is, once USPS hands it off, you can enter that orignal tracking number on the Fedex site, and Fedex gives you the info about delivery. I was sitting there a week after I sent em back wondering why they were delivered, then just by chance I tried the tracking number with Fedex, and it worked for the rest of the transit and deliver. The whole thing is pretty sorry thought. For record, i always take a picture of the box/label with my phone that way I have a record of the tracking number.

I left Direct because they wanted to charge me $300 for a Genie and a new two year deal. I wasn't looking or expecting anything for free but $300 was to much. I was with them for a long time too. So I went with Dish and glad I did.

I started receiving emails with the welcome back offers about a week after I canceled. I still get them in the mail all the time. If they would have offered that to me from the start I wouldn't have left. I would have even paid a little for the Genie. You snooze you lose I guess. I have nothing against Direct. I may take a look again someday. Right now the wife and I are really happy with our 2 Hoppers. The Dish anywhwere app is just a great bonus!

Don't send the remotes! It is not necessary...
