Price increases in February 2014 (UPDATED!)

"• Existing customers who have HD Free for Life as of January 17 will continue to have it for the life of their account, or until they choose to remove it."

You have FAITH my friend.

I really don't. Just repeating what they're telling retailers.

Can you imagine that phone call... "Umm hi I have Free HD for Life, and well I think I would like to start paying for what your giving me for free."

I don't think a DISH CSR will ever get a call like that. :D

Scott it's possible if someone dropped the at package for da or other they may not get hd back without being charged for it.

So $2 increase for DVR fee, $5 increase for second hopper, and $5 increase for package comes to a WHOPPING $12 increase. That's nuts!!

NO, that is just DISH business as usual. The old one /two punch: Price hike on Programming and a BONUS Hike on all Hopper fees and DVR fees too! Oh and don't forget about $10.00 HD Fee coming back for new subs after their 24 month commitment is up. CHURN BABY! Churn! will be the word in 2014 .

I've been satisfied with dish, maxed out on raf, got a free iPad & on a cheap package that suits me. Unfortunately I'll never be able to repeat maxing out the raf's probably ever again. 2 back to back disputes in this dma, 1 on going & now the new price increase is just gonna seal the deal. It's sad but I believe you're right, churn will be the word for 2014.

Well, confirmed my $49.99 AT120 package and am currently watching "The Journey:Big Ten Football 2013" on Ch 405-1. My zip is 46256. So.....

Weren't you the person saying you were getting FXX in AT120 too? The Dish website says that is also AT120+ only and satelliteguys members with AT120 confirmed that they weren't getting it. It sounds like your account is messed up giving you some of the AT120+ perks even though you shouldn't be getting them. Are you getting your RSN too?

Till DISH decides to change it's mind on this policy just like they did the grandfathering of the Hopper fees for everyone that added a second hopper before May of this year.

According to what Angel states in the next post and what Scott posted in the note from Dish the Hopper fees that were grandfathered are not going away. They are limited to 18 months as had been the case when the credits were first offered.

No, no RSNs. Just BTN. And yes, still getting FXX. If my account is messed up...I'll never tell!;)

Some will see $10 increase (+$2 second Hopper +$1 premiums) and another $10 increase on top of the programming increase we will see in two years when Free HD for Life goes away. I am sure this will be another two year price guarantee that Dish will have just like last time.

So, we are talking about $10-13 + $10 + probably another $5. So that's $23-28 increase two years from now unless they decide to up the additional outlet fees, DVR fees, or find another new fee again by that time. This would be for new customers. Existing customers with Free HD for life would see a $10 less fee increase than that. This is pretty hefty after all the other fee increases we have seen on DVR and additional outlet fees. This is just insane. Dish is now advertising how they are absorbing some of the programming costs not passing all of them along but they sure are making up for it elsewhere and then some.

If I was to say disney ch are coming back does that mean the price increase goes up???

My guess is no...prices still went up w out disney chs.... although devils advocate could say that if the disney chs were on now...the price increase would be more

Who knows until it actually happens. ..we will wait and see

Luckily I'm on bill credits that will sustained me for a couple of months ($41) But once it goes over the 100 mark, I'll probably suspend my Directv account.

I am hoping Disney and Dish can come to a deal. If the speculation is true, I am up $12.00 (minus the 18 month credit that is also being discussed) , would be nice to see the other channels in HD. I guess we will see what the next days, weeks, months....brings
