Dish Anywhere app for Roku?

I'll bet that's the real reason the Sling Extender was never released: no way to charge a monthly fee for it.

Nope the real reason was they couldn't deliver a consistently good quality picture because of both the ways Sling Technology works plus the issues of working over a 802.11g network are what killed it.

Then how does it work consistently when slinging to a PC?

Saw that app. That was not for the Sling adapter or HWS.

nope. slingbox only.

One option would be to get an adapter cable to connect your phone, tablet, or pc to your tv.

chromecast development is ongoing, but it has worked in conjunction with the coolnovo browser. miracast has proven limited.

if your TV has USB ports.... just get an android stick and be done with it.

Has to be a stand alone sling box, Not supported for Hopper with sling. WD has the only set top box that I know that supports sling.

I'm mainly interested in using it for traveling. Roku is coming out with a memory stick device next month. Using that or one of my
Roku's would give me better access to TV channels than on many hotels systems. Also, being able to access my Hoppers on the TV when we are on vacation at the in laws house would be nice
I don't need it at home.

Not the only set top box. Netgear Neo, Sony player with Google, Roku (slings from your mobile device to the Roku to the TV - not the full app but is does get the job done when needed) and a little company called Apple, the Apple TV.

Sounds like you need a MK808B or RK3188 android stick. They connect via hdmi.

It's pre installed. (judging from my WD player all are automatically installed) It's under live apps. Be aware if you are using a theme UI some do not have the live app catagory. You have to be using the stock theme, them make Slingplayer a favorite. Then you can use any theme and slingplayer will be under favorites by hitting the down arrow on the home screen. (Not using the category favorites)
