HOPPER 3 UPGRADES

I have kept cooling fans on all my HWSs since day one just to play it safe. View attachment 113338
What is your Hopper sitting on? If it generates heat that might be your problem. My HWS sits in the open on a shelf and has no heatiing problems.
I also had a 722VIP before the Hopper 2k came out and I never had a problem with overheating. Sure it ran hot but it still kept going and I kept the same 722 for a number of years without any problems.

When it's released you should give Dish a call and see if you qualify as a new customer and all of the promotions. If you do sign up don't forget you can use a referral number to save additional money on your bill.
Okay, explain that to me, i have been out of the loop for awhile....about the referral.

The only way you can find out is to call and see. The new Hopper in not available as of this moment but may well be in the next day or two as we have been hearing. No sense in calling until you see, here, that it is available.
I will wait until i see it here on the forum and then i will give them a call.

I see you added your name to the Upgrade list. As a new customer, DIRT can't help you. You will need to call in or contact a local retailer.
Thanks for that Info. I will wait until i see that it is available and then I will call in.

HWS in pic is sitting on a DVD/VCR recorder that is never used. My other two HWSs are in wide open shelves.

If you use a referral number you get $5 off your bill for 10 months for a total of $50. The person who gave you the referral number also gets $5 off their bill for 10 months for a total of $50. Once you're a customer you can refer others and get money off your bill as well. You can refer up to 10 friends a year.

That is great! I will be looking for one before I sign up.

Having the tv on and having the receiver on are two different things. Even my 65" LG OLED UltraHD 4K TV according to the Energy Cost label is $21/year in energy costs and that consumes 480Watts. My H2K which is 125 Watts according to the back is on 24/7/365 since 11/16/2012 when it was originally installed. It is only off 2 hours a day at the most when it does the nightly updates of software, hopefully they are able to update software without needing to shut the box off with the H3.

I wouldn't worry about the cooling since if the box fails, it's covered by the protection plan anyways.
How does Dish picture quality look on such a beaut of a tv? Congratulations on owning such a set, I hear the pq on it is gorgeous. I hope to own a 75" version next year when I hope the price of oleds would be much lower.

OK - Just ordered new service on-line at DISH.com. It did not specify Hopper 3 during the order process. The order went through, though, with no problems. Should I call to confirm the Hopper 3 will be installed?
The installation is scheduled for tomorrow morning between 8a-12p EST.

If it were me I'd call to confirm equipment, promotion and appointment.

Just got the upgrade to hopper 3. At first they wanted $150 over chat. Called and asked what's the best they could do for the price. They took $80 off the $150 bringing me to $80 including $10 tech visit. Install is tomorrow. Had the option to do it today but we have shows to transfer onto the external hard drive . Couldn't be happier. Not bad considering I've been with dish maybe 7 months.

Not bad at all.
