new distant networks- awful quality??!!

Checked out Atlanta and SF. this morning and the pictures are poor.
If this is the best they can provide I will be cancelling my subscription next week.
Ghosting from multi path reception is the order of the day.
Very unprofessional feeds to send to the uplink.
You need fiber optic guys not this mickey mouse roof top antenna pick up.
We are used to better than you are providing. :(

Aren't they HD??

Well, the guy on the phone from allamerica told me that these DN were all in HD!:p I think he was confused about the difference between a digital (i.e., just the regular signal being transmitted via satellite) with a true HD signal. I asked him twice if he was sure about that and twice he said he was. He kept saying "sir, of course you wont' see HD 100% of the time but only for selected shows. For example, when CBS is showing CSI you will see it in HD". So, all of you who posted here MUST need new glasses, because for sure the CSRs on the phone are very knowledgeble and now very well what they're talking about!

I am very happy with my HD Atlanta locals. The sound messes up every once in a while though on NBC (sounds like a stuck cd then fixes itself). No ghosting here like others have mentioned and the PQ is very close to my OTA (though my OTA consists of ABC in Asheville and FOX in Greenville.

So, are they really feeding the HD signal? But if that is really a digital signal you wouldn't see ghosts like in analog signals; you'd see pixelation!

I will probably be cancelling as well. The quality of these channels is awful.

I think the only reason why these NPS networks were offered, was to give Dish former distant network customers access to networks till the congress passes legislation to restore Dish's ability to provide distants once again, sans RV waivers of course. IF enough NPS customers cancel the networks then there will be no reason for NPS to continue to rent the transponder on 119 from Dish.

I noticed again last night that the ABC out of Atlanta had intermittent signal loss. I noticed this when they were first turned on and over the next few days, when I checked them, I had thought they had gotten the problem fixed. But I guess I was wrong. The SF Feeds have not improved much either. I'll give them another few days but then I'll cancel them as well. I'm not paying any money whatsoever for this crappy service if it continues.

The feeds from APS are worse than cable feeds if you can imagine that.
How does this company stay in business with such lowsy front end pictures?
Cancelling mine right now.
Will continue using Star Choice for network feeds.

Having seen the backhau;s for SF and the WSB Atlanta, it looks like the WSB Atlanta is a downconvert of the HD feed. Cable would look better than the SF distants.

The grain and noise on the SF FOX is really annoying. The ghosting and double images on both Atlanta and SF FOX are distracting as well. I'll give them until the end of football season to improve the quality before I cancel them

I think PQ in all channels is much better now, sound not so but hopefully that will bi also fixed, now if they could do something about closed caption, I can only see it on two channels. Are all of you the same?

(Remember to check that the program itself has CC.)

I checked the sound on Atlanta and SF, Fox and NBC, last night, and all 4 were verified to be in stereo (something which is only true of PBS in the LIL channels for my DMA).

How do I reset a 622?
