Dish LIVE Retailer Chat Recap - December 20, 2006

All the complaints about the price increase- Why don't we just rerun the same thread from the last price increase?

No one offers to pay more when a channel is added over the year. And why should satellite services be exempt from inflation? Programming and other costs increase. Almost everything we pay for goes up. I don't like it, but I'm not going to burst a spleen over it.

With the loss of DNS service, one might of thought that this year of all years E* may of been a little more sensitive to the customer. Loss of service with a bigger than average monthly price increase is not putting one's best foot forward.

I can sort of understand the price increase of $5 for AEP. All other packs are increasing $3 plus 3 of the movie packages are going up $1 each. That adds up to $6. But the HD price increase is a joke. None of the other metal packages are going up just on the HD portion. Maybe I'll downgrade to the Family pack and finally get the Hallmark Movie Channel and same myself $100 bucks a month ($95 in programming fees and $5 in taxes).

Claude from DishStore.NET is on the phone. GO CLAUDE!

He wants a price guarentee for people who he is signing up today.

Jim says sign them up for the new DVRAdvantage. Which gives them a fixed price through January 2009.

I currently get the Bronze HD package plus locals for $55/month. Now I will get AT100 plus HD for $30 + $20 +$5 for locals which equals $55/month. That's great. No price increase for me plus I get some music channels in February.

Do the new price increases include free Dish On Line, the Feb 15th Video over the Internet ? Showtime on Demand, movie down loads over the internet.

Or will that be extra also. If its is included, then maybe this is why we have big price increases.

We may not know till after CES so I would not complain too much yet. This info is not released to the public yet, its only released to retailers so there may be more detailes on the way.

Point is all of us already purchasing the most expensive package get the bigget increases with nothing new to watch while the people with the less expensive packages get more channels for there $3.

In the past it was those of us who paid more for there programing got less of an increase than those with the smaller packages. I believe it was an incentive to get the Top-180 and or the AEP taht Dish was offerieng at the time.

Well folks the chat is now over, and it was the last chat for 2006.

I did find it easier to watch todays chat with the Slingbox and DVR as I was able to pause things and get you all the great screen captures.

I do hope you have enjoyed our coverage of not only this chat but all the chats over the past year.

Once again thank you to everyone for making SatelliteGuys Possible!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Yes, we certainly do!! If my bill is going up $10/month, Verizon's FIoS just might get a new customer! No fooling!

I've already just left TWC for E*. I will NOT switch back to TWC, and I don't want to go the D* route. I'm going to pay whatever increase there is because I like my service. I just want more clarification on AEP and AEP+HD. Clarification as in: are DVR fees still waived? Will we get a $5 discount on the HD portion to make it $15 more as it is currently?
