Hey everyone i have dish network i just canceled all the movie packs because they sucked. Same movies over and over, but i just now have another issue i noticed. I have not watched tv much over the last 6 months. I just started watching more tv cause im off work with an injury. I noticed almost all the channels play the same stuff in 3 hour blocks. Whats on at 3 is on at 6 then 9 and soo on. Has dish been like this long maybe i never watched enough to notice it but are others like direct tv and cable like this? I may just ditch all paid tv im tired of every channel constantly being on commercials at the same time there is no more channel hopping during commercials all seem to play them at once. Well i just want to know if im alone in this i hope its not just me who hate the current rate tv is going down?

um since Dish gets those channels from the provider, its the originating network that shows it and the reruns. Dish just passes them through :)

Oh well that sucks i just thought maybe they were feeding us the eastcoast version then again for westcoast so i guess im screwed anywhere i go might have to cancel paid tv all together.

the only way to watch tv these days is with a dvr, record the shows you want (whatever time they air ie : late night, ect) and skip through the commericals. this way you are the tv programmer and have what you like to watch.

How long has this guy had a TV, I wonder?

Evidently not long. I agree with an earlier post, get a DVR, then who cares? I haven't watched 'TV that sucked' since I got the first one 9 or so years ago (all of 9 hours record time).

I've never seen shows on at 3 replayed at 6 and again at 9. Typically on the Discovery Channels I see the shame shows on from 8-11 and 11-2, but that is due to no west coast feed.

shrug.. I like that they repeat the shows a little (though they can be a bit excessive) cause sometimes you have singal issues or forget to setup a timer.. who knows.. helps to be able to be able to record it later..

I like the repeat airings too. That way if there are things that I like on Primetime, I can record the stuff that is repeated at its later showing. This way I don't use up my tuners during primetime when I might need to record something that isn't repeated, or if I just want to have my PIP available.

With two DVR's we never watch live tv so the repeats aren't an issue. It also greatly aids in getting everything that our family of five wants to record. A strategy that I have adopted is to put the network shows that we want at the top of the list because they are almost always one time airings and then cable channels next.

It is kind of ridiculous how much cable channels repeat though. Look at your DVR timers sometime and see for yourself. My wife records Roseanne and I had to go to great lengths to keep that one timer from eating up all 288 of my timers in the past (before they upgrade to 576).

Hey now no need to start making me look like an idiot. I am not here to impress anyone with my typing skill, i am here to ask if anyone agrees with me looks like its my fault for not being able to afford a DVR. I guess its time for me to move on as for an AVS transplant what is that supposed to mean you don't want me here fine. I won't be posting here i thought this was a more mature forum but apparently not good bye.
P.S I once donated actual money to this forum but that was a before i even posted, 90 post and almost 3 years later i could use that money right now.

We are not perfect. Sometimes we post things we would not, upon reflection. And like many other forums, there are some ill tempered folks. But I daresay we have a more equitable and even tempered group than most forums, certainly our direct competitors.

So please accept this as an apology and continue to feel welcome here.

Just blow it off. Sometimes we type stuff before we think it through. As for the 3 hour repeats, on some channels it does seem that way. Mostly on the movie channels. But as Iceberg said, Dish just passes on what the broadcaster has.

Don't make yourself look like an idiot. You can't blame Dish, Direct, me, or anybody else for the very common, longtime practice of most mainstream channels to repeat programming in three hour blocks.
