Former Orioles manager Earl Weaver passes away at 82

I really enjoyed watching the Yankees with Billy Martin and Orioles with Earl Weaver playing against each other. Back then they both smoked in dugout during game. There was nothing more entertaining than watching Weaver chew out a umpire.

Long, fascinating article about Dish on Bloomberg Businessweek

When I started working for a grocery chain in 1971 at age 16 , being tardy was not tolerated and taking sick days just for the hell of it were not either.. When I left the job in 2005 people were showing up late all the time, and calling in sick all the time with no, or very little consequences...

Dish no longer allows customers that have NLOS to cancel out of contract.

Its SWM, your statement sounds stupid. When you sign a 2yr agreement, its a 2 yr agreement.

    Ala carte?

Back before Directv & Dish, customers on C-band could pick and choose. Even when Dish first launched, it had a pick ten channel pkg fpr $20. A handful of channels drive up the cost everyone ( mostly sports). So it can be done, if there is a big consumer demand for it

Directv dispute with Viacom IS OVER!

The best way to end all this bull sh*t is to have alarcate pricing, then the customer could choose what they want and whether its worth it.These frigin programmers are just to greedy. 90% of the channels are just crap anyways.

    Colbert makes fun of Autohop

Colbert is a very funny guy. He tends to lean to the left alot making fun at right leaning politicians always using a little distortion for his routine. He did the same with DISH saying signals disapear with clouds, taking the cable tv side. The fact is the DISHs service if installed properly...

Dish isn't the only one having trouble w/ ESPN.

Sports Networks aren't greedy. Its what the professional athletes are getting paid thats driving up the cost. People who dislike sports should not be subsidizing the outrageous salaries profesional atheletes are getting by being forced higher pay tv prices.

    No sports programming Packages

I would encourage everyone to write to their US Senators and Congressional Reps about the high cost of TV due to professional sports. For those of you who dislike sports, how do you like supporting those multi million dollar salaries atheletes get paid, by paying for those expensive sports channels?

Dish may lose my local NBC?

We are facing the same thing here with our Fox affiliate which is owned by Max Media. Max Media is asking for a 270% increase for our FOX 23. If Dish just paid every programmer what they asked, no one could afford to watch tv. Its very unfair for these local networks who are protected by laws...

Dish really has it figured out...

In the last several years DISH has bettered their packages. FX and Fox News were put into Top120 from Top 200. Just recently National Geographic was mved from Top 250 to Top 200. DISH Network has the best options over all their competitors when in comes to choices.
