Lost all signal in Mobile, Alabama, Sunny day...

And I do not believe Dish has any kind of "system status" page, where one can go to check uplink, satellite, channel status of their system.

Signal Strength, DP44, and Dish 1000 Question

Just recently got a Dish 1000 so as to get Mpls HD locals from the 129. So I now get 4 satellites (61.5, 110, 119, and 129) with the DP44 switch. With the Dish 500 I got 100-110 signal strength from 110 and 110-120 from 119. I get about 10 points less than those readings on 110 and 119 now with...

    Pointing a Dish1000

Thanks! Do you, or anyone, know where I can find what programming is on 129? I looked at the lyngsat www pages and it seems 129 is purely for (1) mirroring the HD channels that aren't on 110/119, selected SD locals, and selected HD locals. Anything else besides that on 129?

    Pointing a Dish1000

This thread has been really helpful as I consider switching my Dish 500 (110/119), Dish 300 (61.5) DSP34 setup to a Dish 1000 (1110/119/129) and Dish 300 (61.5) DSP44 setup. I live in Minnesota. Seems from this thread that if I key off 110/119 and am willing to incur some weather related...

DISH Network launching HD Locals in 7 more cities/DMAs

Can I just switch the dish I now have pointed at 61.5 to point at 129 instead, so I can get my Minneapolis locals? Assuming I get a good signal, is it as simple as just repointing my dish? I'd leave the Dish500 I have still pointed at 110 and 119. When I leased my 211 last month Dish told me...

Any word on Dish latino new HD-packages?

They do seem to list the specific channels. See programming/espanol/index.shtml on their site. As an aside, what I wish it for a "Latino Mini" package, for someone like me that wants mostly English but some Spanish channels, just to keep up fluency. Looks like the minimum package is Dish...

    * Note - Do Not Call For Mpeg4 UNTIL FEB 1ST*

How do you know which satellites are going to be carrying which locals? Seems like you know your will be on 129? I'm curious which sat the Minneapolis HD locals will be on, and also which sat(s) the new general HD channels will be on.

    National HD Stations

I have a relates question to netminder's, which what new HD channels are going up on which satellites. I get 61.5, 110, and 119 and really don't know yet (1) if I'll be able to receive all the new HD programming on 2/1, and (2) no idea what satellites the Minneapolis locals will be on. Dan

Thanks Gary. Do you have a pointer to the stuff that's needed, or a list? Dan

How to Determine Received Bitrate and HD Resolution?

All the discussion on HD specs has me interested in finding out what I'm actually getting from the various sources I have access to (OTA, E*, Cable). How do I determine for myself, technically not visually, if I am actually receiving "full" HD (1920 * 1080I or 1280 x 720P) or HD-Lite...

    HBO HD pq?

Say, how does one determine if I am receiving HD (1920/1081i ) or HD-Lite, and also how does one determine the bitrate? Do I need any special equipment or software, and if so, what's the easiest (cheapest) way to do it?

Dish messing with Voom, All are now HD-Lite 1280x1080i: Discuss this issue HERE!

Shutting Down my Dish Subscription First post, great site. Many thanks Scott, Gary, and others. I originally got dish many years ago due to their very high SD PQ as compared with my crappy analog cable service. When they came out with PVRs I got those too. Now I have three SD PVRs and one...
