Welcome engine. As you can tell, I'm a n00b too (only 35 posts), but as of last weekend I have a stationary FTA dish setup and have found 3 birds. Before that I didn't know anything about FTA. I got all my help and read a LOT (and I mean a lot) in this forum.

I second this statement completely. I learned my lesson from eBay by buying a receiver and it turned out to be the European model. The seller just ignored my requests for a refund. So I got a $90 door stop. Beware!

Playyy, can you give me some tips to locking into AMC3? That's one of the birds that I can't seem to find. IA5, AMC4 are perfect.

Ah, that's good to know, but bummer I can't get the NBC feeds. I wanna watch the Olympics NOT on cable ;)

PSB. the weird thing here is some TPs come in but others don't. For instance KUIL Fox is 99% link, 95% quality. So I manually enter 3860 for the NBC feeds and I don't get anything on Quality. So I try another TP, this one 12120. I get 88% Link and 40-50% Quality. So I do a TP scan and it doesn't...

Update: I finally got AMC4, BUT only 5 channels are coming thru even after a power scan.Lyngsat shows a lot of FTA, but I only get 5, include KUIL Fox. I'm wondering if I should manually enter the TPs for the NBC feeds.

Ok, second day of playing with this. Kinda fun. However, I can't get any other bird than IA5. However, I have been able to get 101W (dish network) and some other one just right of 101. I thought 101W was AMC4, but doing a Power Scan the only free channel I get is "You've just setup a Super DISH"...

I tried to do a Power Scan, but it wants an already configured satellite to scan against.

This manual doesn't say how to do a Blind Scan. I know this Lifetime Ultra can do it. Maybe I need to find other docs about this Fortec receiver. I found 2 sats with my satfinder, but didn't know WHAT they were. If the Blind Scan works then I can do away with guessing ;)

That was a quick lesson in LyngSat. What a complicated website. I now know the numbers I need. Question, is there an easier way of entering this data? This remote is too small. I'd rather have a program or something I can upload to the receiver. I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. So...

Correction, not the down frequency, but the symbol rate.

I think I have locked on to AMC3, but I used the 22.000 down and nothing on Quality. Is there a website where I Can find the down frequency for FTA birds?
