I think you would have to figure in the $250.00 up front fee too lease the 942 (and then the $5.00 per month) and 100.00 for the 2nd dish to receive VOOM. There may be other costs, but the up front $350.00 is minimum I think.

I'll take my chances with the Scientific Atlanta 8300HD from COX. At least I'll have an HD DVR without having to beg for it. And, if it gives me problems, I'll know I haven't put money into it nor have I had to make any time commitment to give it a try. That seems to be about all I can do at...

I have Dish 500 pointed at 110/119 and a VOOM dish pointed at 61.5 (but no Voom10... because I've been a loyal Dish sub for 8 years now...) and one Dish 500 sitting on a shelf in the garage.

I wonder same thing. This past Monday I talked to a Dish "advanced tech" and he told me 942 would be up-gradable with a software update. Can anyone confirm this or was he just blowing hot air?

Reading elsewhere it sounds like the VOOM dish and LNB (legacy) work just fine with Dish receivers. Am I reading this wrong??
