I'm not against doing it, but as Bobby said, I'd just as soon replace the fan since I have to open the unit to unplug. I'm just genuinely curious as to why you would recommend doing so.

I ordered one of these external fans in addition to a replacement internal fan. The internal fan hasn't arrived yet, but the external one did. As you suggested, I put it on the right side of the Hopper 3, about 1 to 1.5 inches away from the vents. In a matter of minutes (on the low setting)...

The problem is I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. What are the specs on this fan? I'm searching, but not having much luck.

Where would you buy a replacement fan for this unit? And you just remove a few screws from the case, open it up, disconnect the old fan and connect the new, close it up, and good to go? Nothing fancier than that? If so, I can do that. I've replaced cooling fans in desktops before.
