Both points above are valid if you are looking to invest in one of the two companys, but Dish has better new customer promo's.

As a retailer that sells Dish and DirecTV I can tell you we have far fewer customers that cancel Dish Network than DirecTV. Both are good quality, Promotions are almost always better and independent retailers who sell dish are paid better giving you better support! wait until feb 1 to sign up...
