Is this the twilight of FTA?

Bill, I don't know how that possibly could be misconstrued. Tuna, the United Nations, it all comes together.

Is this the twilight of FTA?

Bingo. First, look at the types of channels that have left FTA in the past year or so. Predominantly, they've been local channels like ONN and KUIL. Besides the fact that they didn't even seem to know they had a national audience, they didn't cater to viewers beyond a local area. For them...

New FTA service with 20 english channels

I say that if some of the spectrum isn't being used by the broadcasters, and they get a cut of the money, then why not sell some of it. We (the public) still get the same OTA, and the wireless companies get the spectrum they need.

New FTA service with 20 english channels

Now, if there's one channel that shouldn't be difficult to put together, it would be a Nostalgia Channel. Most of those really old movies and tv shows are in the public domain, so any channel could show them without having to pay a royalty of any kind.

New FTA service with 20 english channels

I really don't like how for the free sports channel description they list the NFL and NBA, because there is absolutely no chance they could get those games on a channel like that. I could, however, see them picking up things like University of Montana Football, events that are broadcast and...

Most people don't know what FTA satellite TV is

Well what the heck is still out there that programmers don't advertise as FTA fodder (besides History and Bio, which we couldn't possibly advertise in any sort of campaign)? BYU TV and the Pentagon Channel post their coordinates on their website. When I asked ONN how I could receive their...

    FTA Only?

I'm saying to charge specifically for installation. You can advertise "$0 a month!!!" And besides History Channel and Biography Channel, they other two ARE listed as ITC. BYU TV posts the coordinates on their website, and when I asked ONN how I could receive their channel from Seattle, they...

    FTA Only?

You know, I think someone could start a viable business offering just FTA and OTA installation. Set a flat rate for, say, a rooftop antenna and 3 Ku Band dishes, and advertise the channel lineup you'd get in fliers and commercials and such. In this economy, if people knew of the programming...

    GE Intends on Selling NBC

Let me make it extremely clear why NBC will never, ever leave OTA. 1. NBC only owns ten of their 200 affiliates, and convincing the owners of the other 190 would be extremely difficult 2. For the 10 affiliates NBC does own, FCC license, cashflow, and market size determine the value of a...
