    Cloning EHD

Assuming there is nothing tying the data to the specific disk, dd should do the trick. dd if=/dev/sdX of=myfile.bin Something along those lines would do the trick, but it will probably take quite a bit of time. Ideally, pipe it thru gzip as well to compress it a bit. Edit: No, you don't...

    AutoHop secrets revealed??

It is, but if you break it down - not so much! Lets assume that your typical 30 minute show has 3 commercial breaks, around 3 minutes each (roughly). You need the start and end time for each break. Luckily, they don't usually mess with the commerical timings across airtimes for most content...

    HDCP on premiums

Simple, get an additional box. Add to that any lease / mirroring fees. Also, don't forget a contract and a tech visit. It's ridiculous!

    HD feed in Boston Area

Actually not quite - Dish put up WCBS in place of WBZ. Both O+O's, so no big problem, luckily. WCBS seems to have been put up sometime last night, noon news was New York (double take, wondering why everything looked different for a moment), however 5PM news now is WBZ's.

I found this this morning while trying to visit Dish Support.....?

Those Google warnings can show up for a number of reasons, usually if Google "detects" that the site is doing something bad. Mind you, this is (usually) a rogue ad that ends up using a browser exploit to mess with your system. However, some of the techniques that are used by these rogue ads are...

    Hopper Announcements

Just as funny - spend enough time digging thru the FCC, and you will realize that a handful of companies makes everything, so your $$$$ BD player, uses the same exact hardware as the $50 one, just looks nicer.

    Early Dish Pictures from CES

Thanks on the pictures - one request to anyone at CES. Google TV boxes / TV's. If you can get pictures of the about menu (home -> settings -> about) I'd be grateful. Specifically the Model Number / Build Number! Thanks!

D* appaluds introduction of new video deregulation bill.

Whenever legislation says deregulate, I always get worried!

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

There are, but it seems with logitech - its a once a day, if your lucky (more like once a week, or every two, unless there is a quick fix). However, there are reports of people on userdebug getting the update as well, so not sure yet what is up.

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

The interesting note about their post - the pictures a fake, a troll posted it on Logitech's forums. Just a coincidence that the real 3.1 is coming out over the next few days. Quite annoying too, its very obvious that is a 2.1 screen! But, 3.1 beats 2.1 in nearly every account - however, it's...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

Actually, yes - well more specifically, a full nuclear exchange. Of course, depending on where you are, giving a take cover warning may not do you any good (wouldn't do me much good). But, if your out of big cities - it would be very, very helpful. Unless of course, your out in silo valley, then...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

You would think that Dish / Direct would be added in to be higher up on the list (not quite the primary access point), but high enough to remove many of these issues. My first thought is "Just use Dish / Direct as primary sources, let everyone pick up off of them". The giant problems with...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

That list might be out of date, however I recall somewhere w/ pics of the HBO uplink, with EAS equipment. However CNN didn't run it either, and on the broadcast, they said they would be back after the EAS test, but came right on (no cuts) - so dunno what happened.

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

Aha, found a list, its in the FCC rules - specifically § 11.43 National level participation. The list:
