DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

If we are getting Fuse, can a return of the MSG RSN channels be far behind?

DISH -VS- VOOM - A Settlement has been reached!

I have also gotten a negative reaction whenever I start a sentence with the phrase "Now listen here, you f****** c***" Women--such hotheads!

DISH -VS- VOOM - A Settlement has been reached!

Charlie knows he's lost, and badly--or if he really doesn't, he's genuinely lost his bearings, which would be worse. I think it is the former, however. At this stage he is trying to find a way to surrender and declare an honorable peace ("victory" would be too implausible even for him).

DISH -VS- VOOM - A Settlement has been reached!

All Dish is doing is delaying the inevitable, as the longer they can forestall the day of reckoning, the more pressure there will be on AMC to cut them the more favorable terms due to AMC's need to get its signal back on Dish. That is it--there is no more. All the rest is lawyerly bullcrap meant...

You are right they are going to pay in that litigation. One way they will pay is by putting AMC/IFC/WE/Sundance back on again. All that remains to be determined is what amount of cash has to go along with that reinstatement. All the rest has been posturing. That is how big boys litigate.

BTW, here is a better way to view Tile 17: http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17 Also, beware of terms of art that you THINK you know the "common sense" meaning--they are not necessarily the same thing.

Guys, you play lawyer very badly. First of all, the "FBI Warning" is a generalized summary of the law, not the law itself. (The edit adding Title 17 is more to the point) Second, even accepting that we should use this generalized summary of the law as "the law" (which we shouldn't), you just...

I see a lot of ipse dixit in these recent posts, but no citations whatsoever to any credible legal authority (such as a court decision construing a specific statute). Forgive me if I ask more from amateur internet lawyers. If it is so fricking obvious it should be easy to show such authorities.

Well, I haven't done that, though I don't know why a "how to" on something not known to be illegal is forbidden. Seems to stand the presumptions of a free society upside down! But I will play be the rules, even if I find them silly.

BTW, notwithstanding what I posted, I can understand MORAL arguments about the practice generally. However, to me, injecting morality into something like the Dish/AMC dispute is laughable. It is like the clash between Hitler and Stalin (Godwin forgive me). Frankly, I'd like to see them both suffer.

POSTING copyrighted materials to Usenet may be "illegal" (in the US, subject to fair use and other possible exceptions). What authority do you have that DOWNLOADING such materials is "illegal"? Torrents are different in that while you download, you also propagate (upload) them at the same time...

I have one word for you all: Usenet. Old school, yes. Problems, no.

Any hope of getting Me TV or Antenna TV to Dish?

I get both Me-TV and Antenna TV OTA. Dish has guide info for the former, but none for the latter (I know, probably not Dish's fault). This is the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale market. I had to upgrade the antenna to get Me-TV to come through.

    Cancelling DISH

You are going to lose a lot more if you blow out Breaking Bad. I know I'll be gone after 12+ years.
