Too bad smart folks like you don't work at Dish. I don't think they have a clue all the problems their updates are giving folks. I had to have my VIP211 replaced because of the same problem.

I'm moving to Anchorage and was wondering if the signal there is reliable especially during the winter? I've read you need at least a 42" dish. I used to subscribe to the HD package and was hoping to have the same in Alaska. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I have the Archos PMA430. Not exactly a PocketDish but I run through the defrag about once every 3 months. I haven't had any problems with it. I would always make backups though, just in case.

Are you paying for locals? I'm not and the OTA local guide no longer works.

I started getting the local guide information about a month ago but they are gone again and it's been a few days now. It was nice to see the local guide information. I also have 2 211 units. Was this due to a software upgrade?

Mine quit woking and the HDMI cable never moves. The other unit upstairs failed and I never even used it. They sent me a replacement 211 and the HDMI works fine on it for now. Let's see how long that will be.

If anyone can benefit from it, I have a DVI to HDMI cable that I no longer use. Purchased it from monoprice and used it for few days before I upgraded to the 211 receivers. It is the #2285 24AWG 15ft w/ jacket.

I am using that one and it works just fine. I was contemplating purchasing the remote controlled one but for now since I only have the DVD and the Dish box the push button does the job.

My VIP211 HDMI output just failed today. Initially thought it was my Panny AE900 but the output from my Toshiba (HDMI) DVD player works fine. Performed several reboots, power down and finally swapped it out with the one upstairs (where I only use the component hook-ups) and it doesn't work...
