DIRT: help with bad LNB drift

I didn't really intend for this thread to go off into why I prefer to do things myself rather than have a tech come out. I'll be happy to explain in a separate thread, or once my issue is resolved, but I don't want to derail this thread. Speaking of which, my hope is that someone from DIRT...

DIRT: help with bad LNB drift

Technically it's not a mixed arc setup anymore, but it is still two dishes, and I don't get 77. In any event, it's not the cost that's the issue for me, it's more the time invested in me waiting around for a tech to arrive, followed by watching them do their work. All the techs I've dealt with...

DIRT: help with bad LNB drift

I'm hoping that someone from DIRT could help me out with a problem, while saving everyone the trouble of a service call. Problem description: My ViP 722 is saying 61.5 has LNB drift on 61.5 (e -13). A few days ago it instead showed LNB drift on 72.7, I think it was (o +14), but I'm only...

Can anyone confirm HD-only will be available to existing customers after Feb. 1st?

TurboHD looks like it's now available to existing subs (with less hassle) I just logged in to my account, and noticed that under "Programming" there is now the option to switch to any of the TurboHD packages. Now if only they'd add Comedy Central HD... -- Dave

Letter from dish - MUST UPGRADE OR LOSE SERVICE

That's only if they have an old HD receiver. From the OP I got the impression the old receiver was SD. Dish is also replacing 721s (with 522/625s), and I believe a number of other SD receivers with newer SD receivers as well. Best explanation I've seen is that they either don't want to, or...

Dish to start upgrading HD customers to MPEG4

I just wanted to update on the fee situation. After wasting a good hour of my life trying to convince two CSRs that I wasn't supposed to be a charged a lease fee, I was finally transferred to an "account specialist" who actually knew more than what the computer was showing. She helpfully...

Dish to start upgrading HD customers to MPEG4

I finally got my letter on Sept 5th, and scheduled an appointment for yesterday. Apparently the tech original scheduled for my install had an accident earlier in the day, so it wasn't until 8pm that other techs came, and they didn't have the actual workorder with them. Other than that, they...

Dish to start upgrading HD customers to MPEG4

Has anyone else not been contacted by E* yet? Right now I've got a single (owned) 921, a D500 pointed to 110/119, and the original HDPak paid ahead through November (annual subscription) . I haven't heard a peep from them so far (not phone, email, or snail mail). Frankly I'm in no rush, as I've...

First Look - Dish Whole House HD/SD Solution?

Everyone is making this box sound like it's doing some fancy complicated thing. The way I read the information in the first post all it is is a bunch of satellite tuners connected to a bunch of ATSC modulators. The video data is in MPEG2 in both cases, and is essentially identical in...

Best Deal On DVR-921 for New Subscriber?

Free Dish promo is definitely the cheapest way to get a 921, and perhaps the only way that makes it worth the money. See this thread for info on the Free Dish deal as it relates to the 921. The Free Dish promo ends Monday, so move very quickly to get set up. I think you have a few weeks to get...

Why didn't I think of this earlier?

I have a similar setup to what you want. I have my 921 in my living room, where I use a universal remote for everything. Then I have coax to the bedroom TV, which is where I use the bundled UHF remote. Since I usually leave the 921 in SD mode for SD viewing anyways (for convenience reasons...

    MonsterPower and the DVR 921

I should mention that there are devices which could have an effect. Specifically anything which uses an isolation transformer or AC regenerator could clean up the incoming power and help in situations where the house power is very bad. Of course few areas in the US actually have power that bad...

    MonsterPower and the DVR 921

I use a Panamax Max8 DBS+5 surge suppressor with my 921 setup. It has 2 SAT rated coax lines, and 2 CABLE rated coax lines. I find this as perfect for the 921 as I can cover both SAT tuners, the ATSC tuner, and the outgoing coax to the bedroom TV in one unit. I'm not aware of any other units...

    Problems Recording from 921

I have noticed that the component and S-Video (and presumably other "SD") outputs have different color balances. Specifically it seems like the component outputs are over-driven compared to my other sources. The S-video output matches pretty closely what the built in cable TV tuner in my TV was...

Is there a single tuner receiver with more than one set of outputs?

I was also recently looking for an inexpensive S-video Y cable to run two S-video devices off of one output. I came up with two options. This from RadioShack, which is marked as an extender but can be used as a splitter as well (look closely at the backside of the plugs). The second option is...
