    Tivo

Tivo can offer all the enhancements and features they want. But the only ones that are going to matter to most people are 2 tuners and an integrated box. And then they are still going to have to convince people that the other features are worth paying for, since having to buy the box and pay...

    Tivo

Sounds reasonable. The problem is that there isn't any growth left in stand alone market, and SA revenue will probably start to decline soon. As more cable companies roll out their own DVRs, people are going to switch because they are cheaper (a free box and lower monthly fee) and they have...

    DISH or DirectTV???

This is what I'm finding fascinating now that I've gone to "the other side". I spent the last 2 years reading posts from Tivo users bashing Dish DVRs whenever anyone posted a problem. Now that I read the DirecTV/Tivo forums, whenever anyone dares to point out a flaw in Tivo, they get a bunch...

    DISH or DirectTV???

How about actually being able to browse the guide? It's pretty much impossible on the Tivo because it takes so long to load. And the loss of color bug is as bad or worse than any bug I ever encountered on my 721. My 721 had a hard drive and it was much faster than the Tivo in every aspect...

    DISH or DirectTV???

I switched from Dish to Directv last month. I don't have HD so I don't know how much my experience will help you. The equipment is a wash. I had a 721 and now have a directivo. Yes, the name-based recording and associated features on the Tivo are great. But the Tivo has it's faults - just...

How to watch recorded shows on a 721 that's not hooked up

<sarcasm>No, that never occurred to me. I thought if I just kept staring at the screen the PVR list would come up.<sarcasm> The PVR button does nothing. Mike, I was able to get to it through the menu, thanks! Dennis

How to watch recorded shows on a 721 that's not hooked up

How do you watch recorded shows on a 721 when it's not hooked up? I'm just stuck on "acquiring satellite input" or whatever it says.

    The problem with DVR's

This is why we got a 721.

Are there any satisfied DISH customers

I wouldn't find that acceptable either, but my 721 has never lost a recorded show. I think I had one instance in almost 2 years where a timer didn't fire when it was supposed to.

Are there any satisfied DISH customers

I've had Dish for 4 years and a 721 for almost 2 years and I have no complaints with my service.

    Why DVR Fees?

If you don't like it, don't pay it. They clearly state the fees up front - if you don't think they are reasonable, then don't buy the unit. Nobody is holding a gun to your head.

    Why DVR Fees?

By the same logic, there shouldn't be any monthly charges at all for Dish Network. You've already paid for your equipment, why should you have to pay a monthly charge to use it?

    721 Caller ID Problem

I have always had issues with it as well. Most calls show up in the history but the pop-up almost never works, I've seen it maybe 4 or 5 times in a year and a half. My switch is grounded, they sent me the 3-prong adapter and I put that on and it hasn't helped either. Dennis

    When Will We Get NBR?

While Replay doesn't have a season pass function it has the flexibility that you could specify if you wanted the timers to record the show from just one channel or all channels. You could also specify the days of the week as well.

    HD vs. SD

Yes, the future is HD, but the present is still SD. Do you really think that Dish would provide millions of replacement receivers to customers for free? Of course not. So when they tell people they have to buy new receivers to get channels they've already been getting, what do you think...
