why not go with a router that supports dd-wrt. dd-wrt lets change the wireless power and lots more. dd-wrt basically adds $600 features to inexpensive routers

I did this on one of my laptops. I basicaly made a windows nt 5.2.3790 worksation 32 bit. the mods from the other forum said I was hacking when I brought this same thing up.

I use media center 2005 to do my recordings because I get surround with the use of a software dolby decoder. That will work but if you want to stream the receivers audio and video with vlc you will need on with an analog audio output on the device it self.
