    Help pointing dish

The slimline is not easy to tune with a low end tester. You can make it easier by knowing in advance what the coordinates are for your area. Go to the DirecTV website and you will find a section where you can type in your zip code and the coordinates will be displayed. These will be elevation...

    One DVR for 2 TVs

Are your local OTA channels broadcast in HD? If so, consider a small HD antenna. They're not expensive and easy to install.

How To Get Other Local Channels

Not to sure about the spot beam thing because I have a brother in Miami. We both have DirecTV. We both have 3 receivers except that he has one of my receivers and I have one of his. So i get to see Miami locals and he gets to see Boston locals. We have done this for years with no problems. No...

Trouble getting 5-LNB Dish installed by installer.

2 inch O.D. poles are not common. Go to any retail store like Home Depot or a fencing company and they won't have it. You most likely would have to go to a plumbing supply company to get it at the right length. I know from experience. I install the KAKU dishes commercially. The only 2 inch pipe...

setup help what do i need to get

The phase three has 3 lnbs to receive 101, 110 and 119. Why would you need to use a separate 18 inch dish? Dish Network uses an sw21 combiner switch for their 110,119 dish 500 to work with their round dish pointed at echo3. DirecTV doesn't have that device because it's not needed.

AAARRRRGGGHHH! - - - Where is the bugger!

Check your signal strength. If the strength is high (in the 90s) then it could be an amplification problem. Tell us what kind of dish and what kind of service you have then we can narrow things down a bit. Also, how old is the system and are the fittings compression type or crimp.

    New Comcast HD commerical

Comcast claims to have more "HD programming" not more HD channels. They are including their on demand sections which are available in HD. DirecTV actually has more HD channels.

PREWIRE (Yes I searched first, But none of the topics directly answered my question)

If you want additional future expansion then you may consider using a Wide Band 6x8 multi-switch (assuming your using an HD setup). This way you can run 2 cables to each room from the multi-switch with 4 outputs leftover for future use. The 6x8 switch has 4 input for your satellite dish plus to...

DirecTV installer: Won't run line using flat coax coupler

Flat jumpers still work OK. It's just that in most cases they take a beating and have to be service over and over again. Now I'm talking about the average customer that doesn't know anything but plug and play. If you do it yourself you should have no problems. I've done it for years without any...

    Diplexing ka/ku dish

Tt was mentioned earlier that the BBC had to be located outside or in the basement. Is that necessary? Right now my SAT cables are in an AV closet running into a WB6x8. The receiver locations are 20 to 50 feet away from the WB6x8. Can I use the diplexer setup after the WB6x8? For example can I...

    Diplexing ka/ku dish

First time poster. I can't quite follow the replies above. I have a job where the cabling is already complete. The cable is fished through the walls and the walls are closed. The customer is running basic cable right now to receive Boston area locals because direcTV will only broadcast...
